9th Region: Is this true?

My son plays down there and the locker rooms are exactly the same. The main difference is they now have newer backboards and not wood and the shooting obstacle heater that hung over the one corner is now gone but everything else seems to be the same.

Too funny... and I remember that heater as well. It's cool to think that not much has changed there.

IMO the only problem with it being at NKU is the traffic. 20 minutes to get from the highway to the parking garage is a little long, but it would be the same at Ryle, Holmes, and Conner.

20 minutes to get from the highway to the parking garage? You could walk from 471 in 10 or 275 in 20. The only time I have ever seen it take that long to get in there was during a big concert, monster trucks, or something along those lines. No traffic issues at all for the Nku games,I doubt the regional games are gonna create a traffic problem!

Boo hoo to you too. If you don't like my posts, a guide can certainly tell how to ignore them.

Believe me, I definitely know how to mute you. But it was still rude to answer someone wanting real information and you act like these prices are just fine. I know adults like their cushy lifestyle but these prices are crazy for students. Every parent wants their child to attend their school's games, especially if it's a once in their school's lifetime win. If you're lucky enough to have a very good team, it will get pricey here on in because after the regionals theres the state and it too will be here for at least 2 years. And prices will start to mount up for a family 4-6 people. Sorry, but I know there are families who don't have that kind of budget flexibility. And yes I have been to activities at the arena, no complaints but it's just my hubby and I and we can afford it. But not when we were saving for college for our children, paying for our home, saving for retirement and bankrolling everything that you want your children to experience during youth and their school years. That was my only point. And I do like the old school appeal and packing the gym. And also, for the first time my hubby in 67 years ever did it, he made and took his sign to the district tourney and no one took it away.

Well I can remember finding a parking spot then standing in the rain at Conner at 5:00 or 5:30pm on a Saturday night hoping to get into the gym for a 7 pm final. Then sweating in a swished seat not daring to move the entire game. While others never got in. Problems are all relative.

Sounds like the district finals between BCHS &PCHS from the 60's. And sometimes you get to the window and it's sold out. Then we got in the car and tuned in to WFTM and listened to the game after picking up carryout. A fun memory of youth after Bracken and Pendleton built similar size gyms. The waiting, seating, parking problems are nothing to these young people. Adults weren't always so rabid about attending tournaments, back then it was thought that most fans would be students.

When you choose to have an event at an arena prices are going to be higher. Common sense tells you that. Stay home if you dont like it. What are the prices at Rupp for Sweet 16, im sure its not cheap, gonna gripe about that too.

Elite is correct for this thread.

I don't get it. I read through the entire thread and see nothing that looks like anything more than "fan banter" between regions and personal preferences.

Why would you lump an entire group into a collective, apparently disparaging remark like that ?

If people chose to not spend their money on high school basketball in order to "bankrolling everything that you want your children to experience during youth and their school years." that is just a personal choice.

No one ever guarantees your kid will get everything they want in life equally or like everyone else....that sounds more like socialism than elitism.

Jeez, cry me a river. If you can't afford to go then don't go but stop trying to ruin the experience for the kids who like playing there and the families that enjoy spending their hard earned money where they choose. I am saving for college for kids, paying for a mortgage, saving for retirement and bankrolling 4 kids including having already shelled out a combined 42 years of tuition to private schools. If I want to spend my hard earned money attending high school sports, that's my prerogative. That doesn't make me elite; it just makes me a high school sports fanatic.

If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Name calling - now that's truly rude.

What's hilarious is that the people mainly complaining about BB&T don't even have kids attending 9th region schools!

That's my point, you must pay for the essentials first. It's not easy for a parent to fail to be able to afford these luxuries, it's not a choice. Eating out, shopping, yearly vacations are personal choices. Paying necessary bills is an obligation a parent makes. And a lot of families don't have an extra $500 in their budget to follow their team all the way. And yes as grandparents we do step up but lots of families don't have that cushion. Hope this explains my point about how badly a parent feels to say no go.

Good for you, worked hard, studied hard and graduated well and have a good job. Sounds a lot like our family.Your own sentences prove the elitist point. These parents don't choose to deny their children the experience, they have to. Wrong, we will be coming to the arena for state tournament. But hubby and I have no problem, cushy and expensive instances are built into our budget. And if my grandchildren are in town, they will come also. But all families do not have the luxury and you proved my point. No money? Then tough luck, get the heck out, you losers. Can you fathom their situation? No!

Going to a High School Basketball game is a choice.

Disagree completely, they do choose too. If they cant financially afford it, then they are probably not doing something right at home to start with and more than likely thats by choice.

Forget it. Useless and waste of time. See you at the arena for state.

I would prefer to play in a packed high school gym but the 9th doesn't have any large enough. I m guessing if you took the largest arena from each region, the 9th would be the smallest.

Same argument on a smaller scale in the 39th district. Having district tournament at Bracken (smaller, better atmosphere) or Mason (larger, more money)
