9th Region: Is this true?

Featured Replies

NO signs at the 12th region boys tournament or noise makers allowed, plus the PA guy is horrible and rude.

I disagree. NEED, is a strong word. Other schools seem to be doing fine without making 65,000 dollars at the regional tournament. Plenty of other ways to make money. You don't need the money, you want it.

I guess there are different ways of going about it but every school NEEDS money for everything. They're going after it in some method. Why not take a guaranteed method that doesn't require a lot of effort?

You do realize that a lot of school systems do not have athletic budgets. The only way they fund all sports is fundraising and money made off the gate of boys basketball and football.

Is he calling the cheerleaders "fat" or something? A rude PA?

..and fruit sales!

Are we the only two BGPers who have worked a fruit sale together?

I miss those NDA fruit sales!

rude to the student sections.

Give me some context here.

Trust me, I've been a part of both school systems, big and small.

This is what i was looking for and after seeing the difference in money they make now I see why they have it there. For the schools and the KHSAA it's a good thing. Just not for me. Sorry to get everyone all riled up. now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Just to piggyback

Typical cost of tourney game at NKU

Ticket - $6 (if you pre buy at school)

Parking- $5

Hot Dog- $4

Drink- -$4

Total- $19

Typical cost of a tourney game at a High School

Ticket - $4 ( guessing at this, if pre buy at school)

Parking- $0

Hot Dog - $2

Drink - $1

Total- $7

Pros vs Cons

Cost: @$12 upcharge to attend per person on average at NKU

Distance/ Travel/ Parking:yes you pay $5 (part of the $12 up charge) which gets you a spot in the garage.

Walking distance is a wash- might be a lot worse, in fact, if it were at a High School. Drop off/pick up area at NKU for parents and kids very nice

Amenities: cushioned seats with arm rests, professional scoreboard with PA, plenty of space, general admission so get as close to the floor as you want. NKU wins hands down.

I've been to my daughters games when it was a ghost town and I've been to games (CCH vs Holmes) when they almost filled the entire place. Put a high school band and a student section in there and the atmosphere is great. The 9th region is very fortunate to have this at their disposal. Any other region that had such a facility would hold tourney there in a second and they wouldn't bat an eyelash at the upcharge in prices- which, other than the ticket and parking, are optional anyway.

When you choose to have an event at an arena prices are going to be higher. Common sense tells you that. Stay home if you dont like it. What are the prices at Rupp for Sweet 16, im sure its not cheap, gonna gripe about that too.

If we all stayed at home that are griping about the prices, the stands would really be empty! And how would that work out in the long run?

Disagree completely, they do choose too. If they cant financially afford it, then they are probably not doing something right at home to start with and more than likely thats by choice.

This I will disagree with. If you've never been in a family that can't afford an extra 25-30 to go see a basketball game, then you can't even say what you did. I have been there, it still does exist.

If they can't afford the additional costs to see it at BB&T, they probably can't really afford to go if it were held in a HS gym either. If they did still go, that's pretty financially irresponsible. JMO.
