Just saw the Title of this thread and read a couple of the first comments. It should be deleted for a plethora of reasons.

I did not see Bird play in high school nor have I seen Carson play. I do not see one person having an opinion of being unfair. The person making the comparisons has not put down Carson, been negative towards him, or even states he will be a great college or NBA player. He thinks he might be and says he will wait for 5 years to see.

 

I think it is more of a compliment to Carson. It would not have bothered me at all as a parent if someone compared my son to an elite, all-time for the sport great player. From everything I have read about Carson, he has his head on straight and this comparison would not effect him at all.

I would venture to guess some of those ridiculing this thread subscribe to all the recruiting newsletters and never really see the players in person, they just go on what they have heard or read.

I don't think it's fair to compare HS kids to other college players let alone NBA players.

 

Carson is an amazing HS player, and if he continues to progress will be an outstanding college player. NKU got a steal with this kid.

 

Just let Carson be Carson. A kid who I think is this years Mr. Basketball and a future KY HS Hall of Famer. We should all enjoy watching these kids and stop comparing.

How about 2 years from now if he hits a slump and folks come back mocking the kid for not being the next "Larry Bird". He was a better player in high school after all.

Your comment is so over the top it's comical. Who in the heck is going to say that, the people here on BGP?!? Most of you appear to be 9th Region guys and gals commenting on this, so comment on your own players if you don't like seeing an 8th Region guy being promoted.

I saw Freeman Williams from Portland State in 1977 drop 42 on UK in Rupp Arena. And I was on one of the coaching staffs that night. Top that!

 

I was at that game too!

 

Freeman was a great scorer, and for what it is worth, he had 39 points that night.

 

It took him 40 shots to do it, though.

Yeah, I got an email from someone who tells me some of these other posters only want to provoke with their snarky comments. Said to not pay attention to them.

If you have watched Carson play as many times as I have, you would see the similarities with Larry Bird as a high schooler and in college. I think Carson is BETTER than Rex Chapman as a senior in school. I coached against Chapman and he was great, but Carson is a more complete player.

 

For the record, Chapman was a McDonalds All-American.
