I saw Larry play against the likes of Paoli, Corydon, Austin and other inferior schools with inferior players. That is the only- and I mean only similarity to be made here. Bird was great in high school- so great that IU gave him a scholarship when they were at their best. Case closed.

So when Carson Williams isn't one of the two best players in college basketball in 2 or 3 years, will it be because he didn't work as hard as Bird? YOU are setting the kid up for failure no matter how well he does in his career. YOU are comparing him to Larry Flippin Bird. He didn't ask for that, but you certainly burdened him with it. For the record I saw Carson a lot in the EYBL this past year. Liked him a lot and think Coach Brannen (a long time friend of mine) got an impact guy for 4 years. He wasn't one of the 25 best players I saw and evaluated on that circuit alone. Now he's the next Larry Bird. Good God...

How would Carson be compared to Elijah Pittman? I know a better attitude is a given, but I saw Elijah drop 20 on UK a few years ago. Any thoughts???

 

I do not think Carson, who I am a fan of, has Pittman's overall game nor skill set.

I see Carson as a small forward. He could grow another inch or two. He's about 225 in weight right now, might top out at 6-8, 235 with proper weight training.
