I don't know how preseason rankings work. This site must use some sort of advanced algorithm lol.

No question on that. Guru is a math whiz. A real quant.

All i have heard is about the Walter kid all year and they barely play him?

And the reason for that is he is out of shape and can't get up and down the floor.

I clearly remember reading something stating that he was committed to a DII school. I looked again to see where I read it and I cannot find it. I don't know what I read. But I did find out that he's highly interested in Winthrop University, a DI school.

This is also false, Cole has no interest to play at Winthrop. He has an offer from there, but will not play there.

Really? Because top 3 in the region is alot more than you think it is. We're talking about Holmes, NCC, and CCH from last year. All top 500 nat teams. I'd venture to say that Cooper is probably of that caliber, but making that kind of assumption before last night is a little far fetched IMO.

Maybe I should have said.... Those in the know, had them in their top 3 before last night.... and this would include some local coaches.

Not sure what you mean by saying the "top 3 in the region is alot more than you think it is". I think it is the top 3, nothing more, a lot more would be like a top 10.

I am not sure what Holmes, NCC and CCH from last year has to do with this years top 3.... I'll venture to say that those teams from last season will not be in the mix this season.

I do not think the rankings are coming from BGP, there is a coaches poll that is done each week throughout the season.

Statement game early from Cooper. Congrats.

Not entirely true. Getting better each day. Got up the floor well in the JV game.

I wouldn't say he's out of shape. He looks like a completely different kid out there. He lost over 20 lbs this summer from the work and conditioning he put in with the coaching staff.

Kid is working hard. Don't judge him off one game.

I'm with you Walter. Jake moves well for his size. His muscle growth and coordination still has to catch up with that big frame he carries. He's come a long way in a couple of years and will get better.

People need to lay off this kid. I believe he is still 14, or just turned 15 a short time ago. With his size, it may take him 2 more years for his coordination to catch up with his body.

Sounds like CCH had an off night and no one could stop the McNeil kid! I do like the CCH coach, and will say whatever team had McNeil would have won the game, not too sure coaching would have made a difference! Just read the newspaper where McNeil said he had something to prove and he wants the college looks too...kudos to this kid, he showed up and showed out and hopefully some schools will come knocking now, no reason they shouldn't! It's obvious he's good for 25-35 points a game if not more, the down side of that is that I hope the coach don't totally rely on that every game, every now and then you lay an egg, and you hope the reinforces pick up the slack! Unfortunately I don't think any of the players single handedly can create points that McNeil does. CVH will be back in rare form, it just wasn't his night!

While there may be some truth to this statement (but I would put Kunkel in the category picking up the slack on a McNeil off night), wouldn't that also hold true for CCH? Flood looked like the next best player on the floor for CCH but outside of that I didn't see any other creators of their own shot. Cooper's other 3 guards can legitimately all be consistent double figure scorers.

It's early and this was one game. CVH isn't going to have too many off nights and Flood will continue to add more points and CCH will be power in the end.

True Sixer, CVH won't have many of these nights, it happens...but I will disagree that I don't think Kunkel will have many nights picking up that much of the slack. I don't think he is there yet, I could be wrong and if I am I'll be the first to admit it! Putting it another way, he cannot fill McNeil's shoes when he has an off night. Double figures maybe, but I'm talking very high double figures as to what McNeil on a nightly basis is capable of, that's all. I think Cooper has a good team, McNeil I believe is going to have to carry them most nights. Take him out of the picture and take away 25-35 or more points a game, then what? I just don't think Kunkel or anyone on Cooper can make that up.

He'll get there, give the kid some time!

While I do agree that Kunkel will not put up 25 - 30 points as frequently as Sean does, I do think he is more than capable of putting up 14-18 points easy if Sean is not playing very well. If Sean is not hitting then there will be more shots for others and Kunkel can light it up with the best of them. He has also drastically improved his ability to drive and take contact. I think the mixture of him, little McNeil, and Hendrix could definitely make up the 20-25 you expect Sean to get. The big question will be what happens when both McNeil and Kunk have an off night at the same time?

Cooper was the better team and it showed. Cov Cath fans need to move on.
