Never like to see my team lose, but an early season wake up call isn't necessarily a bad thing.

 

Sounds like AJ had no ill effects from FB season, 10 boards on opening night after a week's practice.

 

Looked for other threads but didnt see any. CCH website shows Colonel frost won by 7. No score reported for JV, anybody have that info?

 

CCH won the JV game by about 12.

All i have heard is about the Walter kid all year and they barely play him?

 

I'm not sure what you heard that would make you think he would be playing a lot of varsity.

 

He is coming along very well. I was impressed with a lot of things he did in the JV game.

 

Showed a nice jump hook which will be impossible to stop if he gets his feet set correctly and catches the ball in the right spots. He received the ball well. Had some flashes of good passing.

 

Like almost every big kid he needs to stop always putting the ball on the floor when he catches it. I think he did it once in the varsity game when he was in and they took the ball. He'll learn.

 

I really liked what I saw. He'll continue to work on his body and be a dominant player. He looked good.

While Ziegelmeyer didn't get a lot of minutes last night he did some things well when he was in. Shows a nice touch from the FT line. Plays a tough inside game. Too strong for most kids.

 

My guess is he's still getting his basketball legs under him and will continue to get better.

Man to man, they switched nearly every screen on him, but he was able to create plenty of great looks for himself off the bounce. They just didn't go in.

 

Have to disagree here. There was not as much switching as is being presumed here. Hendrix guarded CVH straight up and there was very little switching taking place. CVH had a bad night shooting no doubt but a lot of that had to do with Hendrix's defense.

Well, we were sitting 8' apart, so that is interesting. I can think of many times where CVH came off a high ball screen and Sean picked him up, or Chris, or even #23 and #40. Hendrix is a great defender, I get it, and I fully agree, and if that needed to be said, sorry, yes, Hendrix is a great defender.

Everyone went into that game knowing Hendrix was a great defender, BUT, what should really excite Cooper folks is the three-ball he confidently knocked-down in the 1st half from the sideline opposite the benches. If he is making perimeter shots, he is not only super tough to defend, but they become nearly impossible to defend. He can already deck it on nearly everyone in the region one on one, but if he is a threat to shoot it as well...he is a real weapon.

 

Oh, and Hendrix is also a great defender.

Congrats to Cooper. Sometimes depth, without a rotation, hurts your team. However this came down to missing easy shots (attribute that to good defense, big game jitters, and just misses). Sullivan will have to work hard for Cooper to maintain that intensity throughout the season.

Sounds like CCH had an off night and no one could stop the McNeil kid! I do like the CCH coach, and will say whatever team had McNeil would have won the game, not too sure coaching would have made a difference! Just read the newspaper where McNeil said he had something to prove and he wants the college looks too...kudos to this kid, he showed up and showed out and hopefully some schools will come knocking now, no reason they shouldn't! It's obvious he's good for 25-35 points a game if not more, the down side of that is that I hope the coach don't totally rely on that every game, every now and then you lay an egg, and you hope the reinforces pick up the slack! Unfortunately I don't think any of the players single handedly can create points that McNeil does. CVH will be back in rare form, it just wasn't his night!

VonHandorf has never been a lights out outside shooter. I think KHSAA website stats from last year has him shooting about 26% from behind the arc. He averages about 16-18pts a game (sometimes more, sometimes less), but shoots a lot of shots to get them. Cole has always been really good at midrange pull up jumpers off the bounce, and getting to the foul line. That is his strength at the high school level. I believe most of this points came from the foul line last night.

CVH averaged 18.2 PPG last year.

 

Avg attempts per game was about 13.5.

Avg FT attempts per game was about 5.

 

If we use the stats Cooper submitted to KHSAA it looks like Sean averaged 17.7 PPG taking about 12.8 shot per game and 4.5 FTs per game.

 

Looks pretty similar to me.

 

Only difference appears to be 3 PT FG%. 48.7% to 25%.
