My sarcasm is because every time something like this comes up and anyone suggests there be reform, this board explodes in the NRA rhetoric and the overblown hyperbole of "they're trying to take my guns". Even in this thread, there's a lot of that rhetoric. I'm tired of trying to have a reasonable, sensible conversation on this board about this subject. Mention even one change, and the group goes ballistic (pun intended).

California has laws against assault style weapons and high capacity mags.. Didn't work out too well in this case..

 

And there's no guarantee it would have helped had their laws been different.

 

While I believe you do have the right to own guns, and by no means even want to attempt banning all guns, I'm not comfortable with and wouldn't feel any safer if everyone was packing heat everywhere.

That's the type of baseless rhetoric that needs to be dropped if this country ever wants to see an effective policy implemented.

There's baseless rhetoric on both sides of the issue, and I'm tired of being told that only the left-leaners have "baseless" rhetoric. The answer to gun violence (even violence as a whole) lies somewhere in the middle, and there are lots of fronts to attack. It's like abortion. You can't legislate it away.

I never claimed there was. I simply said it seems some people here will deny it was radical Islamic terrorism no matter what.

I agree that sometimes it is too easy for people to buy guns! We should be looking at these situations. But you can't try to run over gun owners like a bull in a china shop! This is an polarizing issue! Improvements will come slowly. People hold dearly to the ability to defend themselves, but the current administration is trying to shove it down their throats!

But the question is, how do we attempt to curb this type of crime?

 

Awareness. Same as it's always been. We wil hear stuff from folks in the coming days and weeks that will raise flags that were ignored. Most of it will be the truth.
