November 29, 201510 yr Is Dawson the QB Coach also? Is that normal at the big time schools to have a QB Coach and OC or is the OC usually the QB Coach? Depends. In cases where the head coach is from an offensive background and "shares" some of the o coordinator role, the official o coordinator sometimes may have another role like qbs, rbs, wrs, etc. Where as at UK, where the head coach is from a defensive background, I don't see howthe o coordinator could be responsible for a position also.

Just looked it up. He is the Offensive Coordinator/QB Coach. At least according to the UK Staff Directory. In my very very amateur opinion I think UK could use a coach designated solely on QBs and their development.
November 30, 201510 yr The University has made a major commitment to move the football program to the next level, we need a coach capable of leading that transition, it concerns me that there were too many times that the players and coaches were totally confused as to what was going on, these are mental mistakes and are unacceptable! At some point there was also a divide in the locker room, we can talk about poor O lines, pass drops, who the quarterback should be, but at this point I have to question Stoops leadership abilities! Having said that I believe Stoops should be given at least one more year! This. I hope 2016 it all turns around, but I just don't see it. Stoops Troops will be JRs. I have more faith in the Titans turning it around.
November 30, 201510 yr The coach and AD have to go. No reason to not have success at UK. What do you determine as "success" ?
November 30, 201510 yr Dawson being the OC and QB coach is not uncommon, similar to a DC being g the LBer coach. Stoops needs to look for a new OL and DL coach. These two positions were the weakest this past season. Also, Stools needs to take over the defensive play calling duties, and either fire Eliott or demote him. The 2016 season will be the make or break season for him.
November 30, 201510 yr Would UK have to pay a buyout after next season? How long is Stoops' current contract?
November 30, 201510 yr I wonder with Dawson being OC/QBC and Stoops also being the special teams coach if that's his way of maximizing the assistant coach money to spread out to the others. I also wonder if Kentucky was sold a bill of goods when it comes to Stoops. Florida State defense seems to be doing just fine these days.
November 30, 201510 yr I have more faith in the Titans turning it around. They did. Denzel Washington lead them to a state championship.

November 30, 201510 yr Put a dome over CWS, Transfer it to the country's largest basketball arena. :idunno: Seriously, I really have trouble in pin pointing one or two specifics. U.K. needs help in all areas, O and D lines, Special Teams, Ditch the "air raid" offense .... (quick outs puts too much pressure on the already weak defense) I would rather win boring than lose exciting, More depth, top recruiting classes and that comes in time with recruiting top classes in every year. Problem there imo is that prospects look at the W-L records basically staying the same and that makes "changing the program", etc. sales pitches harder to convince. Stoop has done an excellent job in recruiting, I just hope that can keep going when the records staying the same .... Losing.
November 30, 201510 yr I agree that getting rid of Stoops just continues the same old same old. Look at the Cleveland Browns as a roll model for instability = continual losing seasons. Let him continue to build. Yes this year was expected that the Cats would take the next step, but that didn't happen. You can bring in the best OC and DC in the country, but it comes down to EXECUTION. The offensive line struggled this year and that is being very polite. The defense was way too thin on overall talent, and worn down in just about every game. Until these issues get upgraded, I don't see it getting much better anytime soon. It sounds like most of these guys were younger, so hopefully a good recruiting class and another year of seasoning will help UK take the next step next year. Getting rid of Stoops, and they are back to square one. And I agree, Les Miles or any other big name isn't coming through the door. You have to build it up before the big names come calling.
November 30, 201510 yr I heard today that UK is gauging the interest of a former Big-10 head coach that moved down to the FCS level to be their defensive coordinator. Very interesting name.
