In addition to SK, off the top of my head in N Ky alone the following teams have their team benches opposite the main grandstands:

Highlands

Campbell Co

Beechwood

Dixie

...I'm sure there are a few more. I figure it's their home field, so it's their right to stand wherever they want free of cheerleaders, bands and screaming fans.

 

These 3 only have one seating area! The only reason teams with 1 grandstand go to the opposite sideline is to be away from distractions.

I know just because you play a tough schedule doesn't guarantee anything because some teams are just better, but Lafayette on the other hand was not a better team, hell they gave up 70 and 65 to THS and Scott.

 

Not at all. Of course they were talented. But playing a GCL team wasn't going to be the difference between them winning or losing State. Trinty's schedule this year was tougher than Male's. And St X played a GCL school. So did Cov Cath. And they are all sitting home right now. I just get tired of hearing about a teams schedule. Sorry but it gets used a lot in this board to either bash a team, or for someone to toot their teams horn. And it's really easy to fit in after the fact to justify a teams failure (or success) or just simply ignore when it doesn't fit, for example, Scott County in 2013. Again, I'm not saying don't play a competitive schedule. But ultimately, in HS football, your talent level and match ups mean more in winning games than who you played in week 3 or 5 of the regular season.

This is directed at the schools that have home stands on one side & visiting stands on the other, not schools that have stands on one side only.

I think it goes both ways, some years talent level and match up win out and some years it's how you prepare your team. I use last year's T team I feel they don't win their 2nd matchup with X and Male if they are not seasoned team. This year on the other hand Male is just the best team in the state. That 13 Scott had only one talented team to get by, Male, and if Scott doesn't block a field goal and run it back for a TD then we may be talking about Male going for their 2nd title in 3 years. All I am saying on some years when there is not any dominate teams it helps to play that tougher schedule sometimes to get you through those tight playoff games. With SK I felt they were the best team on their side of the bracket and if the played a tougher schedule, and were more battle tested, they would be in the finals. In the finals it was always going to be Male or T's championship. The main reason I even criticize SK is because of one poster was tooting their horn all year.

While I don't completely disagree, Trinity ALWAYS plays the toughest schedule. Most years it comes down to who has the best players. While I think SK was talented, I don't know that they were the most talented team on their side of the bracket. I think Lafayette was talented too, and IMO, that game came down to a couple matchups. I don't think Lafayette playing Trinity (and getting 70 hung on them) two months ago had anything to do with the outcome of their game with SK.

 

And lets take a look at SK's schedule.

7 out of 10 teams won playoff games, 3 won multiple playoff games. Could the schedule have been better?? Yes. But it by no means was a terrible schedule. And consider 2 of their non district games are mandated by the Kenton County School board (Scott and Dixie), that somewhat limits their flexibility.

 

I'm by no means an SK fan....by they take way more grief on this board (because of one poster) than they deserve.

Shouting and cursing at Lafayette players the entire game....police officers huddled up drinking coffee in a corner laughing at the situation....no school administration anywhere.....very lucky there wasn't a riot if Lafayette players weren't so disciplined.....SK needs reprimanded in the worst of ways.....also administration needs to wake up!!

It is 100% the truth....I was on the Lafayette bench.....you must have been on the other sideline....no excuse for such actions to take place at a high school sporting event

So I say again, that makes jawing at a HS football player OK? Fans have no business doing it. Just because your coach decides to run to the other side doesn't give you the right to woof with opposing players. I would expect adults to behave in a different manner.

So where was SK administration and officers during this......there were females on Lafayette bench also that had to listen to this

I have no kids at either school and I'm not a grad of either. I was at the game and also talked to a few reputable people that were on the Lafayette sidelines and can tell you it was going both ways. I don't know who started it, and neither do you, but the stands are largely made up of adults and there's no excuse for that behavior.

 

I have been to all of the Lafayette games this year and have seen nothing like that happening, nor were there any problems on the opposite sideline between the Lafayette stands and the SK sideline.

 

On whole, the game on the field was clean. You've got yapping on only one sideline between kids and adults -- put two and two together.
