Posters complaining about Defense not getting enough of a chance to rest due to short offensive possessions in post #35. I was wondering why they were getting any more tired than the Pulaski kids that went both way and rarely came off of the field.

 

Another poster complained that the best players weren't on the field due to the platoon system and that it was an advantage for Pulaski especially up front with better linemen playing both ways.

 

Would not say that they were tired necessarily. The comment about having your best on the field was evidenced when number 55 starting taking some snaps on the defensive line and number 10 was finally inserted back in the game. Not sure what took so long for these adjustments to be made. Had to feel the game slipping away a little and a lot could be said for being proactive rather than reactive.

The coaches lost the game for HHS! You want to talk about being out coached this was a text book case...Pulaski made great adjustments and Highlands made zero! It was extremely frustrating watching the second half.. Horrible!!!

For those that saw Pulaski today, I know a lot of you expected the Birds to beat them...what if anything surprised you about the Maroons.

How does Hall compare to other QB's that you've seen this season?

 

Coaching. Plain and simple. Teams up here win with better coaching and discipline. PC had both in spades. They found mismatches and put their players in position to win drives.

Couple of things:

1. I told y'a so...I maintained all last year and thoughout this year that Highlands atrocious defense had been masked by a great offense...and that this Highlands offense was far from great. Hughlands literally cannot play D against teams with a pulse.

2. A lot of people said Highlands got better as the season went along? Do you really feel that way or did they just start playing really bad teams?

 

Your "D" comment shows exactly how clueless these statements are. Did the D not shut out Owensboro last year in the second half? Did the defense really cost them the game. And while we are talking about Defense, was Pulaski's good since they gave up 31 points to a bad Highlands team?

 

Yes this team got better as the season went along. There were numerous personnel changes that were made a week before the open date. These changes made a huge difference going forward. You can say the schedule got weaker and I would argue that there were many on these very airwaves saying Highlands might lose to Dixie and Grant County and would certainly lose to Covington Catholic. They not only won these games, the won them convincingly.

 

You act as if they got blown out in this game. Again if you only score 3 points in the second half after scoring 28 in the first, the problems are not only on the defensive side of the ball.

That's basically what I told Lawnboy a few days ago...when teams go to NKY they normally get out schemed...I've seen it way to many times.

It wasn't that they were physically worn out, but the coaches and players on defense didn't have enough time to make adjustments. You could see the Birds defense getting frustrated because they didn't know how to stop the trap without giving up the edge and without letting Johnson get a favorable match up. My bad on the confusion

You just argued for a Defense that gave up 42 in a half in a State game and then, as a FTH fan, argued the validity of a win against GRANT Co., and beating a 5-7 Cov. Cath team.

 

This is surreal.

Hall was 29-38 348yds 1TD 1 INT, Jake Johnson had 12 REC over 100yds, George Gregory 19 carries 132yds 4TDS! The carries may be off but they are close. Once PC got rolling in the 2nd half, Highlands had no answer on offense or defense. TOTAL team effort

Who was LB #8 for PC?....kid must have ended up with 15 tackles or more on the day. He was a beast on D for the Maroons!

Jackson was pivotal in helping contain the bird offense in the second half. #44 is a heckuva player as well!

#44 is Mason Helton. That kid has some heart. Wow.

The walking wounded has a few more days to get healthy. Helton, Whitaker, Mink and Hudson are all battling injuries. Conwell left the game with an ankle injury tonight. PC should be ready for Saturday night.
