I think Hergott played well enough to give HHS a chance to win...I don't see that he is a D1 QB, but I wish him the best at Central Michigan.

Great game! I was really impressed with Pulaski Co. Loved all the trick plays the QB was able to pull off and the offense just bullied our guys down the field. Hats off to HHS Tyler Robinson who was double teamed all night and held his own like a beast.

 

Sat on the Pulaski side for the 2nd half and all the fans were top notch! I wish them nothing but luck and hope they win state!

What in sam heck are you talking about? Not playing some game and certainly not hiding behind any keyboard either. Never said coaches did anything to try and lose this game or any other for that matter. I will let someone else address the elephant in the room if they so choose.

 

As for having your best on the field when it really mattered most, I will say that no they did not until it was too late. Bo Hebel should have been used when they still had a 10 point lead as it was pretty obvious that his bulk and athleticism were needed. Also not sure why my son spent so much time on the sideline in the second half until Pulaski started making a run. Realize that he was banged up a little from being roughed earlier in the game, but there seemed to be no problem getting him in there when their backs were against the wall.

Yes this team sucked and were not near as good as any of the other 100 plus teams in the history of Highlands football. Now does that make you and all of the other fairweather fans feel good. Honestly I could give a rats you know what as to where this team falls in the pecking order of Highlands teams past, present and future. Fact is they were a state semi-finalist and were one quarter away from being in another state championship game despite many in this city that had written them off midway through the season. Could they have won the game on Friday with a few adjustments, IMO yes they could have, period end of story.

 

Since you know so much about this years team, you should be able to figure out what the elephant in the room was without someone telling you. If not, ask some of your many connections and see what you come up with.

I have said nothing about the coaches, but others on here certainly have questioned a few things now haven't they? Why don't you address them and see what they have to say? I am done on the topic of HHS football for 2015. You can rest assure that I will never be on this website ripping on high school kids and saying how THEY simply do not stack up like many others have done this year.

I watched numerous games this year, and have talked to numerous "connections" and the resounded theme was the lack of "jimmy and joes." I realize that you are close to the situation, and that it's hard to fathom, but talent comes in waves and in some years there is more talent in the class than others. Unfortunately, this year the talent pool was shallow. There were some good players on the team, yes, but not enough.

 

The most troubling part is how you refuse to acknowledge this. The way in which you have deflected this year's problems onto the coaching staff is weak. It's the whole, "well it's not my fault it's someone else's fault" that is frustrating.

Just throwing this out there, not trying to blame anyone for anything. Is a Dale Highlands team better conditioned than a Weinrich Highlands team? It would surprise me if this was case, Weinrich as an assistant coach was one of the biggest sticklers for conditioning.

In my opinion this Highlands team was a success. From where this team was at the start of the year to where it finshed couldn't be believed unless it was seen firsthand. Coach Weinrich did an excellent job getting his team better. The players drive and determination makes them champions. They could've quit several times this year but kept fighting. The Friday loss was disappointing because the team turned it around and still had a real shot to win state. I believe every player and coach in that locker room thought they were on the way to another state title.

 

It just so happens Pulaski County was also a great team too and made the necessary adjustments to win the game. Pulaski coaches, players, and fans were class acts. The ones I talked to after the game were relieved to have won, and were very complimentary to our team and town.
