Congrats to PC they have some talented players with speed. Gregory, Riley, Johnson and the gimping Helton were all huge factors. They did what they had to do in order to take control of the game. Credit the PC coaches for making 2nd half adjustments. Those kids were definitely itely not rattled.

 

I'm still scratching my head at the fake punt by Highlands that failed and the failure to stop the PC gashing of the Bird DL until 8 min in the game when they FINALLY put Hebel in alongside Robinson. Suddenly nobody attempted anything inside the TE's.

 

Anytime 44 came in the game on offense he got the ball and converted huge downs. Did someone need to radio that to the Birds Def Coordinator on that last conversion. Which put the nail in the coffin. A quick out to 44 who was limping the entire game and he goes for 7 or 8 yrds and 1st down. Just silly....

 

Great effort by the Birds, really proud of their run into the Semis. They improved 500% imo.

Really impressed with 2 and 13 for Pulaski, and their offensive line took over in the 2nd half.

 

Didn't look like Highlands expected Pulaski to start clicking on offense in the 2nd half. Pulaski's coaches did a great job of keeping the play calling simple and being patient with Highlands defense to make Hall's reads quick and clean.

 

From talking to some of the Ft. Thomas faithful, sounded like they thought this would be a bit of a down year, but were happy with the way the boys fought back all season

Got to watch one heckuva football game at David Cecil this afternoon. Congrats to the Maroons on making some great adjustments at the half and having the poise to chip away at the bird lead and pull away in the 2nd half.

 

Hats off to the Birds on a very good second half to their season. Be good to yourselves bird seniors. You boys have nothing to hang your heads over. Pulaski Co is an excellent football team! :thumb:

Also heard a lot of complaining about the Birds defense or lack of in the 2nd half, but I thought the offense had several possessions that were too quick. If the defense doesn't have enough time to catch their breath and adjust, then you're going to get beat by the same plays each time

 

Also loved the onside kick by Pulaski in the 3rd quarter. You could tell Hines had tremendous confidence in his defense

I could not agree more with this post! Birds played very hard, but it can't be dismissed that HHS coaches don't play the most talented linemen both ways.....as PC did! The second half gashing runs PC's 16 had up the middle were cake walks due to PC both way linemen dominating Bird's non-both way linemen. Once they FINALLY put Hebel in that stopped. From what I heard, the fake punt was the punter's decision. I give him credit for trying to make something happen, but it was the wrong time.

The most talented PC players played both ways...it mattered!

In the past against Highlands that has cost teams especially has the game wore on, why do you think the Birds couldn't take advantage in this game of only playing players one way.

I also thought when the Birds recovered the fumble in PC territory after they ran a few yards for the first down, the first play should've been a shot at the endzone. Go for the juggler! Credit the PC defense though, they stepped up in the 2nd half holding the Birds to 3 points outscoring them 27-3.

 

If JD saw something on the fake punt then I'll give him that, he's converted those before. I just thought it was a huge momentum killer. At that point they were already gashing so even of they pinned em back they likely would've drove the extra yardage. Sometimes you have to simply try and outscore the other team if you can't stop them.

 

Take nothing away from those boys especially the SR"s. They were 4 min away from a State Championship game after starting off 1-5 and getting labeled as a bad football team. They showed the last 5 games they belonged in that semifinal.

Why were Highlands One Way players getting wore against a Pulaski team with several players going both ways. Pulaski's Two Way players seemed to get stronger as the game went on.
