Another (KSP) Officer Shot and Killed

Featured Replies

Good.

Would have liked the shooter to suffer a little longer.

I know, I'm horrible but sometimes I just can't help myself.

I see no evidence that Sports Fan thread-jacked anything. He was commenting on the thread topic, not Walton-Verona girls basketball.

Agree to disagree. I'm going to finish this game of 2K14 and continue to pray for the safety of our LEOs. I'm glad the dude that committed this heinous act was shot and killed. I hope he rots in hell. You and sports fan can continue your discussion about James Blake and race in society now. Carry on. :thumb:

Have they confirmed whether or not he was alone in the car during the traffic stop? I know I'd heard news reports that there may have been a woman and two kids in the car with him.

Per the KSP press conference, that is correct.

Trooper Ponder was a star athlete at N. Hardin High. He turned down a track scholarship from WKU to join the Navy.

Correct. At one point he was in "SEAL training".

Not just zeroing in on you here, but when board regulars with regularity tell posters they're "out of line" or "start a new thread," that's a form of censorship.

My point is that we (society) are quick to blame an officer for anything he/she does. And then we are slow to blame others when officers are in the right, even when it means an officer dies. Blake calling for an officer - who was just doing his job to the best of his ability - to be fired is shameful. There should be 10x more outrage (make that 100X more) concerning this poor officer who lost his life doing his job. But 10 years from now people will remember that Blake got tackled in a case of mistaken identity, while no one will remember Ponder's name.

The Blake incident is what is. That has totally nothing to do with this straight up criminal firing on an officer. And to top it off, you want to bring race into it. No matter the color of the shooter, an officer has lost his life, and a family has lost a loved one at the hands of straight criminal (not an innocent man leaving a hotel). You should be ashamed for even posting what you have said up to this point. There is outrage every time an officer is killed, but what good is crying to the press as you suggest going to do? We know what happened is tragic, we know it needs to stop. The only thing I want to see in the press is the moment when they fry these killers.

The shooter was from Missouri.

Wonder why he ran?

Drugs, felon, scared, ????

He may not be thread-jacking, but his agenda is about as backwards as.....well I can't even say.

Right off the bat I would say one or both of the first two that you listed.

Okay. Agree to disagree.

You're kidding right, but I'm afraid you are not. This a terrible tragic event. I think most are really saddened and don't want to muddy waters. I for one wish a new thread outside of this awful shooting were taken in a new thread.

Stop with that other mamby pamby junk in a thread like this. Somewhere some empathy and sympathy should be shown.

He may not be thread-jacking, but his agenda is about as backwards as.....well I can't even say.

I don't agree with his analysis either. I'm just defending his right to state his opinion.

If everyone posted, "oh I am so sorry" then this would not be a controversial issue.

I am right there with EVERYONE wishing the family every peace possible at this time. The "controversy" part (that is for this forum I believe) is that we don't do MORE for this officer. There should be 20,000 people at his funeral - not at some anti-police rally.

I cannot believe that people think I am comparing this tragedy to the Blake incident. I am comparing the public outrage. This one demands more. Sincere apologies for anyone who thinks I am thread jacking. In over 2000 posts I have never been accused of that. I am just trying to show where controversy may (IMO does) lie in this "Controversial Topics" forum.
