September 14, 201511 yr Tonight is a rough night for me. About 15 years ago my mom got us an English Springer Spaniel, Jake. I have obviously since moved out but he's been with my family for almost half of my life. We have to put him down tomorrow due to his health. Tonights going to be very hard. I know some people think it's just a dog, but that doesn't make it any easier to say bye. This sucks. It will be even harder on my mom. So if you all would, keep my dog and my mom in your thoughts and prayers tonight and tomorrow.
September 14, 201511 yr Will do HB. Taking my 2 year old pooch in for a major surgery tomorrow and have had a dog around as a best friend for most of my life. Have had to say goodbye many times, and it has been heart breaking each and every time. Sleep easy Jake...
September 14, 201511 yr Sorry to hear. Three years ago I was very close to having to put down a 16 year old cat, she was getting around til the end and passed the day before I was ready to take her in. Then two months ago I did have to put her 19 year old sister down. I didn't think I would be ready for it, but I think she knew it was time. Just realize, you have exhausted all reasonable possibilities, and you are doing what's best for him. It may not take care of all your pain that you feel, but it does help. Take Care.
September 14, 201511 yr Couldn't imagine my life being the same without my two pups. They're like my children. Sorry for your loss.
September 14, 201511 yr One of the hardest things to have to do. The loss is real and the pain hurts. Normally when we lose someone we love, it is out of our control. Often times with a pet, the added burden of having to make that decision is on us and that brings with it a lot of internal conflict. I'm really sorry for your loss, HB20. May your little buddy go peacefully and I hope your Mom and your family finds some comfort.
September 14, 201511 yr Just awful to hear this. I can't imagine the pain I'll feel when the time comes for my parents to put down Jack, my first dog, or the wife and I to put down Dexter. I hear the "it's just a dog" line from people (coincidently from people who don't own dogs) all the time, and it's simply not. They're a major part of the family and the thought of losing a family member hurts. Hang in there, be strong, and remember it's alright to grieve.
September 14, 201511 yr Got me a 7 month old English Springer Spaniel right now. Don't know what life would be like without him and I've only had him 5 months. Sorry HB20.
September 14, 201511 yr Sorry to hear this HB20. Thinking about you and your family this morning. I've got a 11 1/2 year old golden and absolutely dread the thought of when that day comes.
September 14, 201511 yr Had to put my Pooch down about 6 years ago. One of the toughest days of my life. Grew up a little bit that day. I refused to let the Vet take him to dispose of so I took him to our Rivercamp and Buried him myself. That was even tougher! I cried the entire time. My wife & kids met me at the Grave site after he was buried and we all said a prayer for him. Family pets are very hard to say Goodbye too when they have to pass on. Very hard! We swore we would never have to do that again. Wow was I wrong.....We now have a 3 & 6 year old Brittany Spaniels that it looks like we get to repeat the process again someday. I'm sure the emotions will still be the same...... Prayers to HB......
September 14, 201511 yr Tough day HB, I know how tough it can be on everyone. It's never easy when a little buddy leaves us, especially after being a part of the family for so long.
September 14, 201511 yr Just remember all of the great times you had together, it will make you smile, and it does make one feel a bit better.
