So is it your argument basically that before a playoff bracket is setup, that the powers to be(KHSAA) examine the strength of teams and then make sure that those teams are not aligned in a way that some other team would have to play them several weeks in a row?

That seems to be your argument as I see it - do I have it correct before I proceed?

The above shows that I did not twist anything. We just have a different opinion of how one should set up the playoffs.

 

You want the same consideration as the rest of the state. Well you arent the rest of the state; you are a 4A school sitting in the backyard of some power programs. Quit trying to run away from them and blame others for not wanting to come take care of the bully next door for you guys.

You are twisting my response, but the best part about this being a message board is that everyone can see you doing it.

 

I do not favor the KHSAA adjusting the brackets because three teams are stronger than all the others. But they're doing it anyway.

The KHSAA is who has changed the rules to take into account how good the Big 3 are. Rigging the game because other teams didn't want to play them. Since they're doing that for everyone else, I don't see why it's wrong for me to want Manual to get the same consideration.

 

But I would prefer it if NO ONE got that consideration. If the rules weren't changed just because the Big 3 are better than everyone else.

I take the long view on the term... There was a time when people were wondering if Trinity was up to snuff, and not that long ago as I recall.

 

It will always be 3 in a row for Manual, as the Old Rivalry with Male is the last game of the regular season. This year will be FOUR in a row.

 

And I don't buy the 'rotation.' It's never going to happen, in my opinion.

 

I understand your point about the long term. If true, then I need to include CovCath in the AAA powers. They haven't been successful recently (if success is judged by state championships), but historically have been a powerhouse in AAA to the same extent and maybe more so then Male. Assuming S. Oldham comes in third, they will have play CovCath twice, just as you will have to play Male twice and will have to play Highlands twice just as you will have to play X twice. They then get the opportunity to play either Bell or Rockcastle Co. Granted, neither of those teams have dominated AAA the way T has dominated AAAA, but if S. Oldham is successful they then get to face most likely Boyle or Bowling Green in the state championship game, both ofwhich have had more success on the AAA level then any team has had on the AAAA level that Manual is likely to face in the state game.

 

Based on what I was told, you will see the rotation schedule for 07 and 08 published after the KHSAA's meeting in July.

 

One other point not specifically addressed to you, the KHSAA has gotten torn up for allowing X and T to meet in the finals because all the KHSAA cared about was money, money, money. Didn't care about being fair to the kids, it was just about the money. They do something that at least for one year will result in X and T not being in the finals, which could result in the KHSAA making less money in the AAAA state game, and they get beat up again. Can't keep everyone happy all the time I guess.

Just because they publish it, doesn't mean it will occur. I think we'll be in a 5 or 6 class system witha new playoff model before then.

I cannot disagree that we'll likely see 5 or 6 classes in 07. You are probably right. But there will be a rotation system for 07 and 08 (even if we go to 5 or 6 classes) unless a whole lot of coaches object to it in my opinion. But the coaches have been in favor of the rotation in the past and I think they will continue to be in favor of it in the future.

2 - The "natural" line that seperates east and west, can "comfortably" divide the state right in Louisville, pretty much along Preston Highway....

If you go North/South you get the same deal. Half of the Ville go with NKY/CKY and the other half goes to WKY...

Look at a map of the state and tell me which way makes most sense. If you split the state north and south the travel from east to west during the playoffs would be much greater. Just imagine Paintsville traveling to Mayfield or vice versa.

I have been trying to get some Lou folks to cast their eyes beyond their little county to see that their are, always have been, probably always will be some teams stuck in an incredible tough district. You used S.Oldham, I used Holmes - they have had to go through 2 teams in their own district (CCH, HHS) that have practically the equal # of titiles as T & X - who Lou fans have been LUCKY are in opposite districts & State halves. Instead of crying they should just be happy theyve been able to avoid those 2 as much as they have all this time.

I'm not disputing that, just that if LouisvilleA and NKY are in a region 1, and LouisvilleB and WKY are in region 2, then only one team from region 1 and 2 would make it to the final. It would guarantee every year that only ONE Louisville team would make it.
