nikeman49 Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 The Head can score but the big question is can they hold teams to a respectable number on defense? What's your opinion?
NKY Bandit Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Still in the PFL, I believe, so no athletic scholarships for football.
Wireman Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Then it will be hard to field an outstanding team. I wish my alma mater could do more with football but I know the financial burden is tough.
Mustang75 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Still in the PFL, I believe, so no athletic scholarships for football. Does that make them a horrible D1 program?
Wireman Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Does that make them a horrible D1 program? It kind of makes them a D3 program.
NKY Bandit Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I'm sure that they do what they can with academic money, kind of like D3 schools do.
CKYFAN Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I believe you will see a much improved defense at Morehead due to Dontae Wright's appointment to defensive coordinator. I am more anxious to see how Coach St. Louis handles the offensive coordinator duties.
gchs_uk9 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Still in the PFL, I believe, so no athletic scholarships for football. True, but two years ago the Pioneer League (and a couple other leagues) were granted automatic bids to the I-AA playoffs. So even though they don't give scholarships they do have the opportunity (albeit remote) to compete for a national championship.
Wireman Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 They have zero chance to compete for a national championship.

Competing at the FCS level will still be a challenge with no scholarships to award. The guys down the road have guys from power conferences that have transferred (down) and talent level is clear when you watch those games.
NKY Bandit Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Off topic, but anyone remember that punter MSU had in the late 80's or early 90's that was real good? May have gotten drafted. He'd smoke on the sidelines and run onto the field to kick. Reminded me of the guy in the 'Replacements' movie in that way.
gchs_uk9 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 They have zero chance to compete for a national championship. Neither does their basketball team but they at least can make the playoffs. Same can also be said for football.
