CovCath's New Football Helmet Logo

Featured Replies

The only thing I don't care for are the numbers on the football jerseys. Other than that, I like the simplistic design.

Lile to see numbers a little smaller and covcath just a little bit bigger on jersey

You do not need flash and pizzazz for a classic, iconic look. Ask Penn State.

I'll give it to the folks on the re-branding panels that the new logo looks pretty sharp at mid-field on the new turf. The whole new field looks really sharp for that matter.

But what in the world is happening to the athletic uniforms at Cov Cath? Why have they ceased to actually put any "design" into them. Instead of seeing our teams on the field or on the news or in photographs and knowing "that's Cov Cath playing", people will see them and see "that generic blue and white team with the incredibly nondescript uniforms".

I think the cross is pretty distinctive. There's quite a bit of merit in a "timeless" or classic look (think how outdated and tacky most fads look a few years down the road; if you're trying to build/improve a brand you don't want that), and from what you said before it seems they want something universal and long-term. I know a whole lot of people have an intense connection to the old logo, but it was a little gaudy.

The only thing I would do differently is to put the logo on the chest of the jerseys, especially the soccer kit a la Chelsea. I don't know if there are requirements about number placement or something, though.

First time I've seen the logo actually on a helmet. I'm still firmly planted in the "looks pretty lame" camp.

Is it just me, or does it appear that they're using Microsoft Word to design the football and soccer uniforms at Cov Cath these days.

Coach Eviston looks like a BOSS!! I'm very excited about this season. Covington Catholic finally has a real coach and staff.

Strange to see the soccer team with Adidas and the football team has Nike. Word is that the basketball team is going to Under Amour.

I like the new logo. What I think looks awful is the boring uniforms.

It's like they took Conner's logo, and replaced the cougar with a cross.

This.

I think Bob Rowe explained the logo well.

Consistency

Cross at the center of everything at CCH.

The center of everything, with the exception of the soccer and cross country uniforms :walk:

This is all about money for CCH. They didn't own the exclusive rights to the "Ole Miss" colonel image, and they were worried about their spirit shop losing money to the kiosks in the local stores that have popped up selling merchandise featuring the names of local high schools. I just don't understand why they had to completely redesign everything instead of going with one of the images that they already have the rights to (the old helmet logo, the baseball-head colonel, the colonel on the gymnasium wall, and the colonel with the angry red face).

Haven't read this thread at all, but I can't believe that after the start the football team has, people are still concerned about helmet logos.

I think that the logo would look real nice if it was on a white helmet, blue face mask. My only problem with the jerseys is the numbers.

Overall if they want to strictly have one logo for all athletics then that's great! East Carter has been trying to do this as well.

You know, the blue helmet with the "C + the cross" on one side and number on the other, is growing on me a little. I did see a nice looking car magnet on my way to work with the new colonel head incorporating the C + cross.
