June 24, 201511 yr Any chance anyone has every flown that flag or put it on their truck just because they were proud to be a southerner. That flag for better or worse has been a symbol of the south for our entire lives. Some people rightly or wrongly just look at it as a symbol of the south and not as a racist symbol. Not only is the flag flying with the blessing of the state government, its not like the flag has been flying forever up there. I will look it up but if memory serves, the flag was only placed since the late 50's or early 60's. Why? Well think about that for a moment and we might see that the purpose of those who put it there was not about heritage but more about segregation.

June 24, 201511 yr I stated somewhere on BGP before this thread that I couldn't believe SC still flies the flag. With that, I question the motive behind this new legislation. I'm not sure it's being done for the right reason. Doesn't feel right. Those in power rarely do anything out of progressive thought and change. Generally it is a reactionary change.

June 24, 201511 yr I think it could of it was showing a true picture of the time it was trying to tell a story about. There are things that were on TV 10 years ago or even today I bet that the PC police won't allow in the future. Blazing Saddles definitely couldn't be made nowadays.
