May 17, 201511 yr 1. Zack Cozart ® SS 2. Brayan Pena (S) C 3. Joey Votto (L) 1B 4. Todd Frazier ® 3B 5. Marlon Byrd ® LF 6. Brandon Phillips ® 2B 7. Jay Bruce (L) RF 8. Billy Hamilton (S) CF 9. Anthony DeSclafani ® P Hamilton dropped to 8th in the order. Who would have written that order down as a prediction any time before the season? I don't disagree with it. I like rewarding current production.

I like Pena in the 2 hole due to his ability to get on base but I'd prefer a little more speed on the bases in front of Votto.
May 17, 201511 yr Did I really just turn on the game in the bottom of the first and watch Bryan Pena sacrifice bunt as the second hitter of the game? Are you kidding me? Sacrifice an out in the first inning? Stupid...
May 17, 201511 yr Reds and Giants looks like Varsity vs. Junior Varsity. You can guess which is which.

May 17, 201511 yr Giants designated reliever Erik Cordier for assignment. He has struggled with command and injuries but his velocity is top notch and he had a nice run last postseason. I wouldn't mind seeing the Reds kick the tires on him. He sounds sort of like Jumbo, velocity certainly isn't everything but taking a look at him couldn't hurt especially when Badenhop is out there throwing batting practice. He hit triple digits in his debut last season. He allowed one earned run in 6 innings during the Giants wildcard run last season with a 9 to 2 K/BB ratio. In 12 innings during a rehab assignment this season he has allowed 2 earned runs while striking out 20. Who is Erik Cordier and where did this 101 MPH fastball come from? - Minor League Ball

May 18, 201511 yr "IF" there was a ray of hope in the last two games -- Maybe, Just Maybe J. Bruce may be starting to come out of the season long funk ...... 5 hits, 2 hr's. I Like Bruce a lot, think that he is a class act but as others have said, he Has to Start Hitting, Contributing at the Plate. I would love to see him go on a tear. Having said that if Bruce would get on a roll, Price would probably pull him, change the batting order / lineup and/or screw it up in someway :meh:. I know that the man is not at fault for all of the Reds failures but I honestly believe that he doesn't know what to do, how to get a teams attention. Price imo is / was a decent pitching coach but he is absolutely lost, has never been a manager and acts like he hasn't a clue how to manage, run a ball club .....so he doesn't.

He just wasn't the right choice, imo. I was hoping for someone out of the Piniella mold, someone who would get these guys attention, keep it, and demand accountability.
May 18, 201511 yr Author After that debacle of a serious, I'm hanging up the thread starting for a little while.

Look who he had as a mentor? He shows so may of the same moves that it isn't even funny. It's almost Johnny B. Baker all over again.
May 18, 201511 yr I was happy when the Reds promoted Price (was not a Dusty fan) but am not a fan now. However, Sparky Anderson, Lou Piniella and Connie Mack would struggle with this bunch. A below average starting pitching group, a leadoff hitter with the worst OBP in baseball, a right fielder who has arguably been the worst starting hitter in baseball this season, and a bullpen which is the worst in baseball does not add up to a good season. Throw in two players that the Reds were really counting on to have big years (Bailey and Mesoraco) being basically non-factors - just not a recipe for much. They will probably in the vicinity of .500 at the all star break and then a night mare in the second half after the fire sale starts.
