This is an example of way too many assumptions and innuendo versus a fact discussion which is okay when you understand the context. Very few if any know exactly what is going on. Examples of conflicting reports is he could not play a lick of basketball to he is very good defensively, just raw on offense. I read he has been in Atlanta for less than a year and then read he has spent two years in school in Atlanta. The list could go on. We do apparently know his name and I believe it is the young man playing AAU ball with the Cincy Lakers.

 

It is a long time coming as to whether we will see him suit up for a KY HS team. What is obvious is that a five page thread took on a life because in this state we get worked up in a frenzy when the potential of a 6'10 - 7'0" player emerges, especially a transfer and not home grown. I guess it is because we simply do not have very many big men playing KY HS basketball. They are like a sighting of Bigfoot when they show up to check out a school. It is what it is.

There are not many legit 7 footers playing HS basketball in the US! Not just KY.

They didn't have to worry about Covington Catholic last year. They couldn't even beat Holmes!

 

And Holmes had a pretty good team with arguably the best guard in the state. Your point??

The past 3 years Newcath has put a beat down on every teams in the 9th region except for Covcath and Holmes. Covcath and Holmes were pretty damn good teams. Weyer, McDonald and Pangallo record in those three years was 90 and 11 and 3 Time All A State Champions pretty impressive for a small school like Newcath

I talked to a parent at CCH tonight. They said after two years of high school in Atlanta he didn't have enough to enroll at CCH. He had fewer than 6 credits and would start there as a 17 yr old frosh. I don't understand why New Cath is thinking about taking him! I guess they will try to do anything to beat Cov Cath! I will give a lot of respect towards the administration at Cov Cath ! They didn't want to take the risk of letting this play! I think this situation brings a lot of red flags!! But good luck to whenever this gentleman plays!

Exactly, someone needs to help this kid get educated. Doesn't sould like he's ever going to be able to qualify to play sports however. Maybe that's why CovCath turned him down. Just kidding.:lol2:

I used the range 6'10 - 7'0' and I had dropped it down to 6'9" on the low end it would still have held true....Believe me when I tell you as you go out and play elite teams from all over the country that many states (some much larger than ours) have an abundance of guys in that range. 7'0" kids are fewer, but there are teams loaded with guys nearing 6'9 or 6'10" and in KY they rarely are seen. When they do transfer in it becomes a much bigger deal because of the seldom seen syndrome than say in GA or AL, or especially TX or FL. I am sure it would be a big deal in West VA or Idaho like it is here in KY, but I have seen with my own eyes that this state does not have near the numbers of kids even 6'7 or 6'8" that many surrounding states seem to have. Not sure if all of these kids are homegrown from those states, because a rising number of foreign kids that are very tall for the most part are coming over to the US at a lot of prep like schools that cater to international players.

I need some clarification on the guardian issue. I absolutely understand why a goodhearted individual or family would agree to care for a youngster from a distant region who also may have athletic potential. What I don't understand is the other side of the coin. How does a "shady" guardian benefit from this sort of situation? High schools don't offer finder's fees, and I can't imagine these players' home communities having any funds to subsidize the kid while he's in the U.S. I'm sure there's an explanation so I am ready for some collective BGP wisdom.

Believe me , the kid will never play at NCC if he doesn't qualify in all regards with the KHSAA rules. The chances of him EVER playing a game in NKY are about as good as someone on here beating Floyd Mayweather. Everyone is wasting their time even talking about it.

Unless you are a detective, then you are in the wrong line of work. You absolutely nailed it. NewCath cares so much about beating CovCath that they will skirt all of the permissible rules to beat them. I hope that the KHSAA didn't read that.

I agree Mexitucky he has no class, if they are so good why do they keep comming to Campbell Co. for kids.
