Add Corey Pelle of Silver Grove to the mix of premier players in the region. He is currently ranked tenth in N.KY. People can say all they want about playing against mostly small schools, but he proved himself this weekend at the State AAU. He had 25 points and 5 assists against the Derek Smith team made up of J-Town, Male, Ballard and E-Town stars. If he can do this there, he can play with anyone.

I totally agree with your assessment of Corey Pelle. He can defend, handle the ball, and can shoot with any one I saw this past weekend. More importantly, he seems to be a fine young man and very good role model, which we could use more of in high school athletics.

From what I hear Edmondson is already headed to 1 of the 3 Kenton Co. Schools and I've heard all 3 rumored.

 

He would have to move inside one of the 3 districts, or he would be ruled ineligible. He will be playing at Holmes next year.

I know Holmes coaching staff got a lot better this season. Tim Sullivan will be their head assistant or J.V. head coach. The former Holmes alum had a great year down at Mason County coaching the J.V. team and assisting the Royals varsity team down state. Good Luck to Coach Sullivan!

Haven't seen enough of Corey to agree or disagree. But will he get the exposure that Romes did? Will he lead NKY in scoring and will Silver Grove play some traditional powers like Beechwood played CovCath, Holmes, Holy Cross in district? (Also who is in SG's district?)

I havent seen him play either but I am sure the schedule is already made so I highly doubt they are playing any big schools. However, I think they typically play Holy Cross, Newport, and maybe St. Henry....they just don't have the numbers... it doesnt matter if you have Larry Bird playing....you still have to have 4 other guys that can take the pressure off.

 

Corey playing with other stars allows him to shine and show everyone he is a great player......He will have a great year....good luck

Brossart, Scott, CCHS, and Calvary... Corey's a very good player and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him lead NKY in scoring.

Corey will be going up against some pretty good guards in that district like Uebel from Brossart, Sharp from Scott, and Baker from Calvary.

From what I've been told (straight from a HC in NKY) Pelle is a player, would be highly respected on a contender.

Some fantastic guards (Uebel, Sharp and Baker) but Corey Pelle is well ahead of these players. He is an absolute weapon!

The question is not about necessarily about just Corey, but about how much Corey can carrry... because from what I understand he and cousin Steven are all the Grove has coming back... and I mean like the cupboard is BARE!

The Grove only loses two players-Corey's brother Justin (19ppg, 10rpg) and Justin Faulkner (8pts, 7rpg). They have 5 guys returning who all started at some point during the year. Teddy Wiseman, who had a 34 pt game last year, will be much improved. Their play inside and bench will be their biggest challenge. As for their schedule, they are committed to the 14 D3 conference games and the four district games. Other than that, they play Pendleton County and in the Berea X-Mas tourney (which usually has some good teams). With their limitations with their schedule, they are playing Cincinnati Moeller, NewCath, Dixie, Conner, Boone Co., Ryle, Lexington Christian and Harrison County over the summer. It may be a little much, but the extra competition has obviously helped Corey Pelle (who by the way is the top five in N.KY in batting avg.)

That is one heckuva summer schedule.....and I think they should have a solid 4 players next year. I remember the Wiseman kid having a few nice games and Faulkner has been playing for a couple of years. The Grove has come a long way......they just need some size.....

 

Whatever happend to the days when they had the 6'9, 6'5 guys like Mark Stiles and Doug Gries......they were always very big when I played them.

Corey is a very good player, but to say he is well ahead of Uebel, Sharp, and Baker remains to be seen next season. Plus, Corey will not have Justin next season and teams will be focusing more on him, which could actually hurt his numbers next year since he does not have a good supporting cast at Silver Grove.
