As long as Rice is there, I think they are number 1. But without him, I have to disagree. Neither Nelson nor Clark proved anything to me on the Varsity level or Junior Varsity. And if your response is that they have worked hard this offseason, I can promise you the other juniors-to-be in the region have worked hard also.

They didnt show you anything last year because Rice was the starter up until the end of the year problems...both Clark and Nelson were only sophomores last year, they'll be fine. Just wait and see. Like I said, they will both contribute in their own way. I never said they were going to be top players..just nice contributors to the TEAM effort.

As to the RUMORS of Edmondson leaving for another Kenton Co school, that is all it is, a RUMOR. SO please stop with them. I know Nate's family and him personally and know that he will be back at Holmes next year. He doesnt want to risk not being able to play his senior year, and neither do his parents. So please stop with the Edmondson leaving rumors. Thanks.

Corey is a very good player, but to say he is well ahead of Uebel, Sharp, and Baker remains to be seen next season. Plus, Corey will not have Justin next season and teams will be focusing more on him, which could actually hurt his numbers next year since he does not have a good supporting cast at Silver Grove.

Sounds like Budman might be a qualified assessor of talent and if these other guys were as good or better than Corey I am sure they would have a spot on the Ky Shining Stars....... JMO..... see AAU thread..... this is where the Corey Pelle Pumpin started.....he is having a great summer playing for those guys and I didnt see Uebel, Sharp or Baker on that squad.

The Grove only loses two players-Corey's brother Justin (19ppg, 10rpg) and Justin Faulkner (8pts, 7rpg). They have 5 guys returning who all started at some point during the year. Teddy Wiseman, who had a 34 pt game last year, will be much improved. Their play inside and bench will be their biggest challenge. As for their schedule, they are committed to the 14 D3 conference games and the four district games. Other than that, they play Pendleton County and in the Berea X-Mas tourney (which usually has some good teams). With their limitations with their schedule, they are playing Cincinnati Moeller, NewCath, Dixie, Conner, Boone Co., Ryle, Lexington Christian and Harrison County over the summer. It may be a little much, but the extra competition has obviously helped Corey Pelle (who by the way is the top five in N.KY in batting avg.)

I am not trying to be mean, just pointing out the facts... I know about Wiseman, and of course there is Corey, and as I said his cousin Steven can shoot it a little, but thats about as far as it goes.... they go about 3 deep with guards and their front court will be nearly non existant. It is great that they are getting experience in the summer vs. those very good teams, and it will probably help some of their other players. But from what I have observed of them last season they lack depth and enormous amounts of talent behind those 3 guards. JMO...

that doesn't mean that I think they will be bad because one of the best players in the region can take you a long way, I just don't know that they will be world beaters. Corey is definately a great player though...

They definately could use some help inside and with the bench. Someone told me they only have around 35 boys in the school. Looking at the KHSAA website, they are the smallest public school in the state with 84 students 9-12.

If I recall didn't sharp and Pelle go head to head this past weekend at the AAU State Tournament?

A friend of mine spoke directly to Rice and he was told that he will not be playing for Holmes and instead of Cincinatti Taft. I'm sure that things could change but as of now I think that it is safe to consider him out.

And idk when your friend spoke to Rice but he has left taft and has been attending Holmes open gyms and now is attending the covington adult high school so he can return to Holmes next year. And this was from a pretty reliable COACH in the Holmes system...so its safe to consider Rice and Edmondson both IN...As long as they dont have any internal conflicts, Holmes walks through nky next year imo with their only close game coming to Covcath.

Pelle had 15 pts and 4 assists, not sure on Sharp. During the regular season-I think it was both teams first game-Pelle had 22.

:thumb: All true, no word if he has been offically accepted to the team yet though.

Sharp and Uebel both have solid game. I didn't mean to take anything away from either of them with my post. I think that both kids can really play.

Corey is a special player. The numbers that he puts up are very impressive but that is not always an indication of what he brings to the table. He has the ability to really take over a game on both ends of the floor. The energy he brings to the floor is hard to explain. He just has something about him that makes him a special player.

Sharp was invited to the Kentucky Shining Star Sports tryouts but he was already playing with the Royals and he declined the invitation.

Uebel is another one of those players that I think could be a difference maker. I like his game. I was told that he had a baseball committment and would be unable to play summer basketball. If that is not the case, have him get in touch with me, I would love to talk to him.

The team lost Nic Simpson this weekend to injury and may have a roster spot open. Nic did some great things for the team, it will be a tough void to fill.

Sorry to hear that about Simpson. He is a good kid and player. I wish Nic the best, and for a speedy recovery.

Nice post.... and my post was not to downplay those kids either..I have seen Uebel and he is a nice 2 guard.....havent seen Sharp or Baker but if you invited him he must be nice.

what happened to Nic Simpson? that is a huge loss.....

Henley has been allowing him to attend open gym so I'm assuming that he is back with the team but being watched very carefully. Hopefully they can all forget about the past and move on though because they have too much talent not to win region and make noise at rupp next year.

BTW Arrez henderson didn't break his foot...he fractured both ankles. Kind of a weird injury but I saw him today and he was walking fine and said he has already been back in the gym and playing.

Might be wise to not assess kids based on who plays on what team, unless you know the full stories. Not sure on Baker, but Sharp plays for his dad's team and Uebel was asked by several teams, but is also a baseball and all-state soccer player, and there's only so much time!! Hard to commit to these all-star teams when you play three sports, have summer camps, etc. Corey's a great player who's finally getting the recognition he deserves; which is no secret over Campbell County way!!

Correct....I made a post after the comment to give props to the Uebel ,baker and sharp kids.....all are excellent athletes.
