The #1 reason Holmes will not go to Rupp Arena - CHEMISTRY.

If Holmes' coach can find some way to get these kids to bond to together for one goal then their is no doubt in my mind that they could run the table and go undefeated this year in the ninth region. Will this happen? My 8 - Ball says "no."

Let everyone think what they want. They don't know what some of those kids go through, but I can guarantee if this was going on at a different school everyone would want to sympathize for those kids. It's cool though... but your hearing it here first from me...Holmes WILL win the 9th region championship this year and get back to Rupp.

And this will be my last post on this topic.

Like I asked before, what is it that these kids are going through? How can you blame the people who see this as the kids fault and the coaches? When all we hear is this kid doesnt like to play with this one, this kid doesnt like the coach so he doesnt listen to him, this one doesnt practice hard, this one runs his mouth to this one all the time, this one got into a fight with this one in the locker room and this one got suspended for misbehaving in school. Bottom line is you can talk about other schools but you just dont hear about all this going on at other schools. And the main reason is because the coaches wont put up with it. The main problem with Holmes' basketball team is you got alot of kids who think they are more important than the team and feel like they should be allowed to get away with these things. And with each second chance and third chance and fourth chance they get, the more they will feel that way.

I agree with you about chemistry, but the Holmes coach won't because he says chemistry is overrated.

I think you were joking but how can chemistry be overrated?

This team has too many athletes just watching out for themselves, IMO. And sometimes not even watching out for themselves, just flat out being stupid in some instances.

He was quoted saying that in an article last year before the season began.

Does anyone think that it is possible that CovCath, Holy Cross, or some of the other teams could beat Holmes even if they don't self-destruct? Anything can happen on any night (see Conner over CovCath in Region Semi-finals two years ago).

Yes I think that CovCath/Holy Cross could beat Holmes on any given night, just saying that if Holmes' chemistry was a better that I couldn't see anyone beating them next year. Unfortunately they will not last.

My prediction for the ninth region is Holmes will dominate early, then self destruct and CovCath will take the ninth region with ease the rest of the way.

Henley did quote last year that team chemistry is overrated. A lot of people on this website think he is a very good coach, I am not one of them.

Ok so maybe I can't stay away that long lol.

But as far as the chemistry goes, many of you will be surprised how much not having Nate on the team will help these young men play together a lot better. Sure Nate is a great player but he and others had differences which corrupted the team chemistry. With Nate now gone (not saying he started anything because he certainly didn't), it will definetly help out the team chemistry. Just wait and see. Holmes, as long as everyone stays healthy, will not self destruct this year. These boys know what happened last year and don't want to ruin their senior years over something dumb.

As far as Holy Cross and Covcath being able to play with them...It's high school basketball fellas. Anything can happen on any given night. But if Holmes plays together, I don't see ANYONE in the 9th region being able to play with them. Covcath will give them a bigger scare than Holy Cross. IMO Holy Cross just doesn't have the defensive mentality that Covcath will bring to the table to play with them.

???????????????? HC even in their down years thrive on defense? If there is one thing in most years at HC team does have going for them that some teams don't against Holmes, HC players do not fear the Bulldogs at any point when they face.

I can see where you can say that because many of them grew up playing together but in the past two meetings, HC hasn't played within 20 points of Holmes and one of them blowouts came on your home floor. All I'm saying is I feel that Covcath brings more offense to the table which forces Holmes to play better defense which hasn't been one of their strong points the past 2 or 3 seasons. Let's take a look at some numbers....

Holmes is 4-1 in the past 5 meetings against HC and averages a 14 point victory each time (59-45).

Holmes is 1-4 in the past 5 meetings against Covcath (giving up 322 points)and is averaging a 64-57 loss each time. IMO I much rather play HC than Covcath.

HC is very much capable of playing with Holmes, but I just feel if anyone is going to knock Holmes off this year, it's going to be Covcath, but that's why we play the game.

Thats why CovCath is #1 until someone proves otherwise.

1. Holmes- The most talent by far in a very weak region

2. Brossart- Will be huge and unstopable inside,,,wil cuase match up problems

3. Cov Cath- Will have good young talent around some experianced veterans

4. Holy Cross- Jimmy Ryan will be a contender for player of the year

5.Dixie- We will finally get to see that "Exciting Junior Class" that has talked about for a couple of years.

6.Newcath- A good Senoir Big man will be great in a region that doesnt have many big men so Keirnan will have a field day next year.

7. Scott- how they are not in anyones top ten i dont know they return two starters and their 6 and 7 men from last year will be in the lineup this year.

8. Boone- Farris will be tough,,,and they have a good Sophmore class with some good Freshaman coming in including a 6"6 Freshaman

9. Highland- Willy will always have them playing good.

10. Ryle- cant think of anyone else

Very weak region is the prediction that is a sure bet. The 9th a historically weak region will be worse than usual. None of these teams can even be thought of when discussing a state championship. Every so often the 9th has a team or 2 that have the potential to have some success at Rupp. Once again that is not in 06-07.

Brossart and Scott are in the 10th Region.
