March 22, 201511 yr You think a win over Cincinnati is more impressive than beating Kansas or Louisville? Maybe because it was a one and done scenario, but that is the only reason why it would be close. The scenario/stage...yep. Plus the way they were forced to play. My biggest concern of this bunch all year was how physically tough are they? They just moved up a notch.
March 22, 201511 yr Thug, not a thug, pass no pass, strictly conjecture by unknowing people with an opinion. Want to know what I find annoying? It's somebody who takes uninformed opinion on an anonymous site, makes a judgment about a person or small sampling of vocal people that, by the way neither side has met, and applies that judgment universally to an entire group or class of people. No, it is not reasonable to make judgments about Ellis based on his basketball play. But is it any better to speak about hundreds of thousands of people as if they all think and act as one? Uk fans nor any other group of fans has one opinion or believes the same things universally. I'm a UK fan, I have no ill will toward UC, I don't hate Louisville, I loathe soft play inside and I happen to think most officials get it right most of the time. Thank you. I feel better now. March 22, 201511 yr The scenario/stage...yep. Plus the way they were forced to play. My biggest concern of this bunch all year was how physically tough are they? They just moved up a notch. They struggled with the physicality for the first 17 minutes or so, but once they got going it wasn't a problem. UC gave them everything they had, and UK was simply the better team...
March 22, 201511 yr I'm really not sure why we are even talking about Ellis? The entire game was physical. Was he instigating a little bit? Maybe but no more physical than Towns IMO. He was just an easy target from last game. It was a big boy game inside. UC has the right game plan to beat UK, problem is I think UK can play anyway they want. Slow, fast, you name it. Defense is just too good. UC is in store to have a really nice year next year. This 2nd game vs an excellent UK team could go a long way. They will be a preseason top 25 team.
March 22, 201511 yr Funny how a thread about the game becomes a thread about Ellis. Kentucky needed to get slapped in the face. They do play soft especially at the guard position. The Harrisons should be happy they have bigs to pass the drivers off to because neither one of them can guard. Imo the Harrison twins continue to play selfish basketball and I think it's all because both have dropped so far in the mock drafts that they can't even consider turning pro without throwing up gawdy numbers to improve their stock. It's a good thing that Ky. has Eulis that Cal can bring off the bench to get this team into some sort of offensive flow because when they start out it is not that good. This team will win because of their inside game and their defense and right now they can't depend on either of the Harrisons or Booker to knock down the 3. I'm sure this is what will cause Cal a few sleepless nights trying to figure out what to do next on offense. There is a reason Eulis is playing more minutes than either Harrison, and Booker can't throw it in the ocean.

After letting it all play out, I am thrilled this team got that experience when it was all said and done. They weren't winning a title, so why not see where they stand against the best with everyone but Sanders coming back and a solid recruiting class coming in. Such a crazy season, and UC never buckled. Instead they grew together, improved and made a nice little name for this bunch going forward. Keep the shooting numbers up, cut down turnovers and improve the pace just a little on the offensive end and this is a really good Top 10-15 type team next March...
March 22, 201511 yr GT, what is Cronin's health status going forward? Final round of tests should be this week. If he is cleared, would be back on the job full go very soon...

Aaron hit a huge 3 to help UK pull away at one point. Defense is one area the Harrison's have improved a lot since last year IMO. It's spelled Ulis.
March 22, 201511 yr "Something like 62-47 if everything goes well for Cincinnati." Pretty much... GT, I thought about your prediction as the game was winding down today. Wished I had you fill out my bracket.

UC had MAYBE 4 open looks from the perimeter all day...
March 22, 201511 yr I feel badly for Ellis and his childhood, must have been horrible to see his mother killed. People say he is "not right" because of his upbringing and that is the reason that he is like he is. He seems to being doing all right by getting passing grades, and starting on a BCS basketball team and a free ride through college. He obviously gets along with team mates and other students, if not he wouldn't be in school at all. Why does his childhood effect him only on the court?

March 22, 201511 yr GT, I thought about your prediction as the game was winding down today. Wished I had you fill out my bracket. I had Nova in the Final Four, so that isn't a great move. I just had a good feel for how the game would play out. UC would fight to the death, but at the end of the day UK was 15 or so points better if they played fairly well and UC did what they usually do. Fun game to watch court side. Love seeing two teams getting after it at a high level...

He obviously gets along with team mates and other students, if not he wouldn't be in school at all. Why does his childhood effect him only on the court? He just has short lapses of anger that are magnified by the bright lights of the game. All three times he was ejected this year were split second decisions that he still clearly struggles with. Nothing malicious, but no question clear flagrant 2 calls that should have been made. I have seen him grow up a TON first hand this season, but he still has a lot of work to do. The first two were simply trying to prevent a dunk and doing it in the worst way possible. Against Purdue he was getting beat to hell by their two bigs and tried to get in a shot on the box out. All three were very deserving of an ejection, but in no way make him a "thug" or terrible human being...
