I would hope those paid to make these decisions can do so sufficiently. When it comes to high school kids, I am not sure if selecting their idea of an ideal candidate would reflect what a true ideal candidate should be.

If I was a high school coach, and any player had a say in hiring me I would not take the job. It would not be worth it.

I guess I would be curious to hear from those that think a 15, 16, or 17 year old KID should have ANY say in hiring decisions.

The players should have no decision in picking the head coach in any sport.

I think that the committee should sit down with the captains from the previous year and discuss what they would like to see in a coach--their "dream" coach. Also let the kids know the process of choosing a coach. Other than that the kids should have no say in the who the next coach is. The committee can take what the captains say and use it or not in selecting the coach. Sometimes it is good to see where the mind of the athletes is.
