Is CovCath on the verge of the Greatest 9th Region Dynasty Ever?

Featured Replies

Give me a break, CC on a verge of a dynasty.....is this a serious thread.

It is the same thread you posted in on February 10th asking to table this "dynasty" conversation (which I find silly as well) until they make it to state 3x in a row. The only thing that has changed about this thread since your last post is they have made it to the S16 for a 2nd consecutive year. So, by definition and by the measuring stick of your first post, this thread is more serious now than it was then. Interesting that your tact has changed so dramatically.

^^^Holmes' best run that I've personally witnessed was from 05-09:

05- Region Champs-Lost in 1st Round Sweet 16

07- Region Champs- State Semi Finalist

08- Region Champs- State Runner Up

09- Region Champs- State Champion

10- Region Runner Up

13- Region Champs- State Quarter Finalist

14- Region Runner Up

15- Region Runner Up

The more I think about it, Holmes has had one hell of a run these past 11 years with 8 region title appearances and 5 championships to go with the state tournament success.

This is the measuring stick.

Cincinnati St.Xavier has fired their basketball coach as expected. Word is that there are two area coaches on their short list - Ruthsatz and the coach at Wilmington (OH).

Hopefully, Scott will he honored by the offer, tell them that he and his family are happy where they are, and inform them that he is not interested.

Apparently the LaSalle coach was in the running too but told St. X no thanks.

Interesting that the Wilmington coach is on the list. He was one of the contenders for the CCH job when Coach L left.

Unless the money is just too hard to pass up I'd pass on coaching at X. It's not a basketball school. Hardly ANY online chatter about Martin being forced to resign. Apathy.

Heck of a run. I wonder how that stacks up to CCH's 5 straight region championships run? Anyone know if they made the region finals bracketed around those 5 years? I think Newcath won the region before and after their run.

Money isn't going to be an issue if they want Scott bad enough.

1600 boys paying 14k/year..on top of the VERY successful alums they have that would be willing to do whatever is asked of them to give the basketball program what they need to be successful statewide and nationally.

Being the #1 Adidas school in the midwest has it's perks as far as exposure goes, as well.

X might not be a basketball school right now, but I can guarantee that would change if he took the position and some of the current CCH kids followed.

Ballpark how high you think X would go for a coach

Specht turned down an offer from Urban Meyer and OSU so obviously X is willing to do a lot to keep/get a coach they want...

How can any of them follow other than his kid? Maybe Fredricks nephew and the other Ohio boy heads there, but who else. Or are you saying they would move to Ohio just to play for SR? Wow, I didn't realize SR is that special. But I guess his record and recent success speaks for itself.

Scott is THE MAN in Park Hills to those kids. Hell of a coach but an even better guy. They want to play for him and I'm sure some families would make sacrifices to make sure that happened.

I'll believe it when it happens. Ohio has a residency requirement. So you either have to rent an apartment or move or come up with a fake address. Plus you have to be willing to leave all of your friends just for basketball. Why do that?

I know what the residency requirements are...and if you are moving from out of state it's much easier to get around them than if you already live in Ohio. Remember this is all speculation on my part but I doubt renting a $500 apartment is an issue for most of the Covcath parents.

I haven't spoke to anyone but I feel confident that Covcath would lose a couple kids if Scott and Joe left. I could be wrong, too. Wouldn't be the first time. Those players have a strong bond with those coaches, though that goes beyond basketball.

I'm with Clyde, don't see it happening. Too many cons vs pros imo.
