Is there a website/database to see 9th Region titles by school? That would be interesting to see. I'm sure this has been covered in an old thread, but I'm just a little over a year on BGP.

 

Don't know a website for sure, but it's usually listed in the back of the Sweet 16 program.

The school listed under Covington is Covington Holmes. Holmes was added after the Holmes family donated land where the school sits now. Covington has a total of 8 region titles which I believe some are under a different region...8th I think is correct. So Covington Holmes has a total of 21(13 under Holmes + 8 under Covington) region titles. Also, Highlands I believe falls under Ft. Thomas too and that gives them I believe 13 titles. Newport has more than 7 according to the KHSAA records and I thought I saw 14.

 

I guess it is up to the individual as to what records they go with. Personally, I go with the KHSAA.

Not many programs in the state that have had more success than CovCath? C'mon you can't honestly mean that right? There is so many more programs that have had more success than CovCath has. They are not even the #1 program in their region and yes that belongs to Holmes who has a state title and over twice as many regional titles as they do. Plus, there are schools in Lexington and Louisville that have stronger programs and history and they weren't able to sustain the success that some people on here believe is going to happen for CovCath. If they do it in the next few years, then I was wrong, but I believe my chances of being right far out weight being wrong. Let's see how it plays out.

 

Cov Cath has a very good chance to dominate the 9th because overall the 9th is historically a 1 or 2 team region, the last few years the 9th has been like the 6th, 7th or 11th regions have been for the past 40 years in which there were 3-4 or even more legitimate top 20 teams but I don't see the 9th having as strong as region as they have had the last 3 years going forward. Also right now CovCath is a top 10 program but if you take into account the last 40 years CovCath isnt a top program. How many Division1 players has CovCath produced in the last 30 years.

There are some numbers in the 10th region for teams that are now the 9th. Don't see how you can argue that CCH is not easily the second most successful team from the 9th region. I'll take a recent SC over a regional title from 75 years ago when deciding for myself.

I think we need to pump our brakes on this Covington Catholic love-fest until Cincinnati St. Xavier sorts out their coaching situation for 2015-16. Lot of buzz in Cincy that Scott Martin is going to be let go in a couple of weeks and that Scott Ruthsatz, with Joe Fredericks in tow, will be the top canidate. The mob mentality around the Bomber program is getting tough to ignore for their administration, so if I am Covington Catholic High School, I would be figuring out exactly how to keep Coach Ruthsatz and this pipeline you guys are talking about to no end in northern KY.

And IF that were to happen (I have no clue, honestly), I'd be willing to bet a few of the kids attending CCH would be making a move to play for Cincy X and Scott Ruthsatz. And I don't blame them. Scott is not only a great coach, but an even better person.

Nothing against the 9th region and KY basketball in general but building a GCL power that is known statewide in Ohio goes a lot further (if Scott truly wants to coach at the next level) than any success in Kentucky.
