Shope gave kid warning.

He sure didn't act like he was just giving a warning.

I watched that footage when it was shown few weeks ago. I'll just say that's not the first time that particular assistant coach has gone off on a fan. I have witnessed it before more than once and thought it was a little bit tacky each time. You just shouldn't get involved with the fans as a coach. He's got a bad temper imo.

I'm going to assume you're talking about against Lexington Catholic in their tournament. I was a few rows behind him. I don't think he got ejected. I'm pretty sure they were going to and he talked his way into being allowed to stay.

It was an odd situation. I wasn't close enough to hear exactly what was said but I know the Boyle fan was right behind the wives/kids of the Lexington Catholic coaches. He wasn't up screaming or anything (but of course I'm not sure what the fan could have said that the wives/kids heard) and all of a sudden one of the assistant coaches for Catholic flips out and starts screaming at the Boyle fan. "You're out of here!!!" Gets in the fan's face and everything. The fan then got angry after the coach flipped out on him. In the end the fan just moved away from the bench and families. The coach's kid starts bawling, I'm going to assume from seeing his dad flip out. I'd know the Catholic coach if I saw him but don't know him by name.

Yeah that very well may have been on over the back on Faulkner. Dirty play by the guy boxing him out though. Faulkner up in the air and Boyle player with super aggressive box out forced Faulkner to grab on to him. That is the kind of play that gets someone hurt. Bottom line is refs didn't let Dow play at all and Boyle still barely won. Mercer got a couple calls at end of game, but it certainly didn't make up for the fact the refs sat Dow.

Mercerburg played well, but not well enough to defeat an upper 12th team on their home floor. As far as i'm concerned, you have the best (SW, Wayne, Boyle, Lincoln) and then the rest (West, Mercerburg, Pulaski, Casey, etc.)

"Mercerburg" :lol2: Now my wife graduated from Mercer and she would not like that.

I took notice to some of Lincoln Countys basketball players on Twitter last night and a couple of them did not like the fact that their student section was at the game rooting against Boyle and for Mercer. I completely understand it as well because if they dont show up, then Boyle is just focused on Mercer and doesnt have Lincoln in the back of their minds. However, with Lincoln being there that really gives Boyle another motivation. Boyle has got to be thinking, "Its us against the world, lets shock the world". If you think Boyle doesnt have that in their mind this week, then your wrong. Lincoln was just stirring the pot for Friday. I was gonna take Lincoln in a close on Friday, however Im taking Boyle in a double digit win. I hope Im wrong because Im a fan of Jeff Jackson, but I think Lincoln messed up last night.

I don't see anyone getting a double digit win in this series anytime soon. I expect a war Friday night. Will be a great atmosphere.

Dirty play by the guy boxing him out? Is this a serious statement? :lol2:

Dow took Dow out of the game. Is this the first game he has had foul trouble before? I'll hang up and wait for your reply.

As for Boyle barely won.....I don't think anyone predicted a Boyle County blowout. This game went exactly how I expected. I just hate that Dow was injured and that Colton aggravated his injury.

Same here but I'm gonna give him a pass because of his awesome screen name!

Scary stuff here guys; I just hope Dow ends up being ok:

Sure looks familiar...Dow suffered a couple of concussions while playing at Ballard. He plays hard and has a tendency to fall hard. Wish him the best.

I was at the game and you may want to get your facts straight! The kid ran in front of the Mercer fans with the flag! Yeah a water bottle was thrown but could not tell from who? Coach Shope did go across to talk to the kid but Boyle Principal is the one who threw the kid out! Also saw some Boyle adults giving him high five after he ran over to the Mercer student section. If it was at Boyle they would have done the same thing! Good game, good atmosphere! Like I said earlier Mercer may not be able to win the region but they will be a tough out for someone! I would not want to play them first round of the region! Also Mercer did not run on the Boyle side with the spirit pole or whatever that was they had! I was fine when the Boyle kid ran down his sideline but crossed the like when he went in front of Mercer students! That could have escalated and ruined what was a good high school basketball game! good luck to both teams down the stretch!

I thought Colton made an impact when he came into the game. Mercer had to adjust on their drives to the basket, even if he blocked two shots. The block he made on Hager late before he was hurt was big time. Sorry about the injuries, but it was a great game to watch. I thought it should have been a double digit win for Boyle if they make some better decisions with the situation just before halftime and a couple of times just running over people when there were other options. I thought the officials were fair, but missed some calls both ways. With a healthy Elkins and better decision making, I believe Boyle will make a run in the region. If teams guard Baughman, I don't see Mercer beating any of the top four in the region. Remember Mercer was playing at home in front of a fired up fan base against a Boyle team not at full strength.

To me it looked like the gameplan was they thought they couldn't guard Dow in the post so any time he caught the ball the defender fell to the ground and prayed for a foul which they got. I would rather see the defender keep his feet and try to guard the post and not flop. With Elkins out I guess they felt they couldn't guard him straight up

To me there was two stories to this game on both sides. The play of Robbins for Boyle and the play of Baughman for Mercer is one. They both came off the bench and gave a spark to both teams. And then the injury to Dow plus his fouls. You hate to see anybody get hurt in a game like this. I think him gettting those fouls quick kind of made Mercer not force the inside game that much. Then the reinjury, if that is a word, to Elkins back. That could hurt Boyle in upcoming games. I believe that if he has just the littlest of a pain then Boyle should not play him. We need him more for the District Tournament and hopefully the region more than we do right now.

Excuse you? Did you watch the game? What about when Faulkner tried to leap frog our man for a rebound. Try again.

Ill explain what happen with the ejection.

One of leading members of our football team took our rebel flag during a.timeout and ran down our sideline and then the mercer sideline. Mercer had been running their flag around before that but our guy got ejected for it.

Big Difference was Mercer stayed on their side. Boyle kid ran and stood in front of the Mercer student section waiving the Boyle flag in their face. It was lucky that a water bottle thrown was the worst thing that happened. I understand students don't have the best judgement at times and can make a bad decision so I have no problem just a mistake made by a highschool kid. I do find it funny that an adult would try to justify those actions a day later and still not realize that is something you shouldn't do. Could be the reason you have 4 different schools there cheering against you all because things like that seem to be common practice from students and fans.
