4 schools against us? Which 4?

To me it looked like the gameplan was they thought they couldn't guard Dow in the post so any time he caught the ball the defender fell to the ground and prayed for a foul which they got. I would rather see the defender keep his feet and try to guard the post and not flop. With Elkins out I guess they felt they couldn't guard him straight up

People aren't allowed to defend straight up anymore. The rules of the game and the way it's called doesn't allow that. I think every team's strategy should be to get Dow in foul trouble immediately. That's smart basketball. He had two charges but he also had two fouls that he had no business committing.

There were Danville students in the consolidated student section also.

I have reviewed all the pics and videos and...there was a lot going on last night.

The Danville boys basketball team was not in the student section. The whole team was sitting right in front of me on boyle's side.

Agent. You must had seen me. Come say hey sometime. I am the Boyle County filmer.

It definitely needs to be noted again that it really was a good game last night. It was everything I expected it to be. It's been a lot of fun discussing this one at work today and hearing how things that happened on the floor looked from the other side of the gym. :lol2:

I do still feel like Mercer County is a season away from being a serious threat in the region tournament and that is mainly due to experience. They have a good chance to make the region tournament this year and are definitely capable of winning a game or two there depending on the matchups. As someone said earlier experience is key and when you look at the Mercer County team experience is not something that they have a ton of. I felt like Boyle's experience helped them win last night and I feel like the team took a step forward mentally last night. I also feel like Mercer County gained some valuable experience last night and can use that game and environment as a learning experience.

Truly a great game. Good luck to Mercer County the rest of the season.

What great rivalries you guys have!

I have NEVER heard of student section of a school not playing the game show up and cheer. Crazy.

Love it.

I'm still a little stunned haha.

All this back and forth between the fans on both sides but here's what I saw ON THE FLOOR last night:

No dirty play just two teams competing very hard to win. I did not see a single cheap shot, trash talking, etc. Given how heated the game was, that's a compliment to both programs. That's the exception as opposed to the rule based on what I've seen so far this year.

The comment was made to me, by someone I didn't even know, that they had never seen so much talent on the floor in a Mercer-Boyle game. And that's true. Take your competitive hats off for a moment and appreciate the level of talent on the floor on both sides. Expand that to include Lincoln. It will probably be a long time before we see that level again in those 3 local counties.

Robbins stepped up for Boyle and Baughman for Mercer. Things both of these teams must have. Elkins played limited minutes but still impacted the game defensively. Dow played exactly half of the game and yet had 10 points and 11 boards. That's at a clip of 20/22. Wow.

And I don't blame Boyle for "flopping," that's on the officials. Watch the officials. What call do they get all excited to make? A charge call! You don't see them dancing down the floor demonstrating the block sign. Refs are paid to do their jobs, which means they enforce the rules in an unbiased manner. They should NEVER get excited about or demonstrate emotion when making any call. Perhaps that helps explain the 12th region officials' obsession with calling charges. It's gotten absurd. So, yes, 2 of the fouls were on Dow while the other 2 were "on" the refs. If I'm a ref, I watch the film and realize they made a fool of me and it wouldn't continue to happen. They got punked lol.

I'm sorry but this makes me laugh out loud. Here's the bizarre no call...I mean, that has to be some sort of violation, right?

Yes

I think its a good no call, and an even better block out by the Boyle player. He didn't run in there and push him in the back or anything, he just came down on him. It's kind of the same thing if someone falls in the paint and people are jumping for a rebound and land on him.

I can't see how it wasn't "over the back." The player in white jumped "thru" the player blocking him out in black. He might have eventually "went over him" but he isn't entitled to go thru the guy. That's my take.

Sorry, but I disagree. You can't run in and jump on someone's back and take them to the floor.
