Dorian Baker and Drew Barker

Featured Replies

Although I have never been in a bar fight, I can understand how this can happen. This story is on Deadspin and other national websites because of the profile of the people involved, not because it was a regular college students.
Maybe, but I think it's a program thing, not a personal thing. I'd be willing that if you lined up all the kids in that bar that night, minus the football players, less than 10 would have been able to tell you Barker's name.

Are your 3 Regular Joe's having their School paid for them? Your right, it would be a Mute point wouldn't it. But it's not and this is not the 1st time a couple of these "High Profile Athletes" have been in the Spotlight for trouble. Right? What kind of Conversation do you think Calipari is revisiting with his "High Profile Athletes" this morning? Don't think he is not constantly drilling the "Be a good Student Athlete" concept into his players heads. Calipari has been here how long and with how many problems with his kids? Stoops has been here a 1/3 of the time and is failing quite Miserably!

I agree with you. The fact they are high profile athletes is the point. I believe we are making the same argument.

Just party at Two Keys and you won't have these kinda problems.

UK players, Barker specifically, have to be smarter than going back to that dorm. I'm sure its no secret to them that its where a majority of football players live. Even if he was going to find a lady or a buddy, it's just dumb.

I thought they have already tried this.

Do you have to be 21 to get into Two Keys? I'm asking because I don't know.

I understand what you're saying, but it's also a bit of an apples to oranges comparison if we're holding Stoops to Cal. Stoops has way more than 3x the number of players to watch over than Calipari. Additionally, because of the situations that each's program is in, Calipari doesn't have to take as many "fringe" kids whereas Stoops might have to out of necessity. Not calling any of the UK players involved "fringe" kids when it comes to behavior, just stating the facts about why Stoops might have more issues than Cal.

I'll be the first one to tell ya, I'm probably the last one anyone would want next to them if they got in a bar fight. I'm not a fighter, never have been, never will be. Not in my nature. If that makes me a bad person, or a bad friend, so be it. I can live with that.

I'm not a fighter either and chances are I'd get whipped but if I walk into a bar with three of my friends and one of them gets into a fight I'm not leaving. Period.

So, are we now justifying sucker punching someone from behind?

Nah, they are just saying he is stupid for not running back to Lexington. Which doesn't make sense to me but whatever.

Just party at Two Keys and you won't have these kinda problems.

I love the Two Keys!

Great point and I didnt think of it that way. ?

Yes you do.

I have always been a Barker fan and supporter but was thinking last night... didn't someone say 2 years ago that Barker would be another Pike?

Definitely seems to be going down that road.

This thread is honestly hilarious. There lies a predicament in the fact that if you"re "punked", especially by an opposing football player you don't want to back down. On the other hand you have a group of individuals who have a reputation to uphold being a member of the UK football team.

Honestly, if someone threatened my friends, or myself (especially back in college) I probably wouldn't back down. But I never had a rep that was magnified by the UK limelight. Especially as a QB, and an assumed leader, Barker IMO should be leaning more toward the "setting an example" and being a leader side of things.

The other thing is, just go to a party if you wanna have that kind of fun. Why go to a bar where people probably know who you are and know you're underage. Not trying to sound condescending, but come on, Drew. Make better choices.

New details released by the Richmond Police Chief:

“On 01/25/2015, at approximately 5:00 P.M., a complainant reported to Richmond Police that he had been assaulted at a local bar by several male subjects.

“The complainant reported that he was at Jerzee’s, 122 E. Main Street, at approximately 12:30 A.M. when he was grabbed by three to four males who began hitting the complainant repeatedly in the head. At one point the complainant reported losing consciousness. Following the assault, the complainant attempted to walk back to EKU, where he is a student. He was accompanied by two females who were attempting to aid him. Eventually an ambulance was summoned and the complainant was taken to Baptist Health hospital for treatment.

“The complainant reported that he suffered cuts under his right eye, above his left eye, and to his head that required closure by stitches or staples. He also suffered a broken nose and broken bones in and around his right cheek bone and orbital socket. The officer taking the report observed severe swelling and bruising to the complainant’s face.

“The investigation is currently ongoing with interviews of witnesses being conducted and other evidence being analyzed. Once the investigation has been completed and the facts are fully established, the department will take the appropriate action with regard to the filing of charges against any person deemed to be culpable. Until that time, the department will have no further comment on the matter. “

This is like a Seinfeld episode, lots of debate yet nothing is truly happening.
