I'd almost go as far as to say the lower % shot in todays game is the 12-16 foot mid range jumper since very few players and or coaches concentrate on it or practice it. I have kids who literally HATE shooting practice when I put the dots on the floor and they are all 12-16 feet...bank shot angles included. "Why do we have to shoot bank shots coach"?:banghead:

It clearly bothers you. Others don't care. Doesn't make either right or wrong.

I understand that you want your girls to play hard and give the bench an opportunity but a 159 point blowout is inexcusable.

That's averaging 2 points every 24 seconds.

Once both of those are accomplished to continue to press against a team that probably does not have ONE player who could play on YOUR team is simply gratuitous and has no value in high school sports.

 

 

I agree. I don't have a problem with bench players running the clock down and shooting. However, it probably made no sense to continue pressing and/or trapping this team after the first 3 minutes of the game.

The person who should be suspended is whomever scheduled the game, not the coach.

 

You can't tell your bench players, that rarely play, to not shoot.

I am intrigued, based on the earlier post, as to why a school with 2,700 students can't field a basketball team that could score...say 10 points anyway. I agree, don't rub in the superiority, but are we not going to penalize ineptitude either? Maybe the other team is bad because the coach is bad, the good athletes won't play for him/her and quit, so he/she only has players that wouldn't have made the team otherwise. Then, we they get clobbered, the winning coach is penalized for proving the point. As a matter of fact, maybe all the winning coach's players came from the losing coach's school and wanted to make a point. My imagination can take this a lot of directions.

For the record, I have already agreed with this position. And my post your quoting does not support such behavior. I am merely speculating on possible background scenarios that would cause the winning team to want to run up the score like this. It doesn't make any sense to me otherwise...except girls are mean.

Might be a school where fastpitch is king and they send 6-8 players on D-1 rides ? Ca fastpitch is serious business .
