This year was a huge step in the right direction but there needs to be more expansion.

At MAXIMUM 6 teams. The Big 5 conference winners and a wild card. Seeds 1 and 2 get byes.

 

I'm just not sure that 16 teams need to play (potentially) 16 games.

Honestly, 8 is too many as well.

 

6 is the perfect number, if they ever want to expand it, and I don't see it happening any time soon. 4 works.

I think 8 is a good number. All of the Big 5 conference champions would be able to be in with eight, and the chances of anyone 9-16 winning it all are slim and none...

I'd argue that the setup was just fine the way it was. But more advertising dollars out there, so I'm sure it will expand. I'd hate to see it be more than 8.

 

Throw me in the camp with the group that says make it 6.

6 makes zero sense to me. Go 8 or 16.

I like 8, I would rather stay at 4 then go to 6 with byes.

 

I'd only take Conf Champs if they had less than 3 losses...if they have 3 or more losses they have to hope they are top 8 or they wouldn't get in automatically.

The top 4 teams made it so to me it worked just fine.

Let them in over the only team in the country to not lose a game? Not buying the argument. Prior to the playoffs being played, the argument could be made for TCU over OSU. Even after a sub-par performance in the Rose Bowl they still deserved to be there. TCU had a loss, better to win ugly then lose pretty. FSU deserved to be there, just pooped down there leg on the biggest stage this year.

I've never understood the, "it works at every other level" sentiment. What does that even mean? You can draw up a tournament with 23 teams or any arbitrary number and make it work. It doesn't mean it is the best. The excitement of college football is because you have to be on your game every week of the season and each week is filled with elimination games. Some concessions will have to be made the more weeks you add. Less games during a regular season; teams at other levels do not have conference championship games (someone correct me if I am wrong) so that would probably go away.

Why did it prove that the system failed this year? Is it because you don't think OSU deserved to win?

8 at the most.

 

Did anybody else feel weird that the Rose Bowl didn't have the same significance? You just win the Rose Bowl and "We got a lot to work on" just doesn't sit well right now.

 

With that said, I loved the playoffs.

 

I stand somewhere in the midst of those two feelings.

I'm speaking about the past where only two teams made the postseason.

 

I do think OSU proved it on the field.

 

Two teams definitely weren't enough, four isn't enough either.
