There are a million things I could write about Birdsfan, but nothing seems adequate.

 

I miss his funny sense of humor and his sarcastic wit. Loved that guy.

 

Thanks for posting that picture of his headstone with "Birdsfan" on it. That is incredible.

 

Same here. Just hard to get the words out how much I thought of him. BF you may be gone physically from us, but never forgotten. Everytime I see a squirrel, I think of him.

I've said this before but my memories of Birdsfan are from high school. Loved watching all the big football players carrying him in his wheelchair up and down the stairs to get him to his classes. Total dedication in making sure Dave got around each day. Loved it!

 

As a former hoops player at HHS, I remember Coach Shields asking me to "fill in" one week when one of the football players could not carry BF around for some reason (cannot remember why now). I was honored to do it and will never forget him. He was the poster child for one of my favorite sayings - "attitude is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you deal with it"...

His BGP name says it all...

 

Lots of respect for the Lehkamp family as I know it is mutual, Dave obviously never played football at Highlands but if one didn't know of his circumstances you would have thought he was a 3 time State Champion Middle LBer for the Birds if you never met him in person...

I found this thread looking for one of the old NYE threads. It was good to read through, but a little sad too. I figured since we started 2015 with thoughts of you, we might as well close it out the same way.

 

If you are looking down on us Birdsfan, and I know you are, then thanks for the memories big guy. It wouldn't be New Year's Eve without your presence here.

I too was thinking about the cyber parties. I stopped at the grocery on my way home from work and bought a cheese ball and a shrimp ring for me and the dogs. As I was waiting in line, I was sad I wouldn't be able to post that I was bringing those to the party,

Dave helped me with my first avatar. I remember how he loved to have a thread on New Year's eve BGP party. Very nice person, and I always got a huge laugh about his squirrel adventures, (and crabs while in FL)

I have a squirrel that has been jumping from my bay window to my second story window screen for no reason. Makes me think of him and I giggle!
