DJ Jenkins

I think if a young man or woman can transfer into a situation than can provide for them an avenue to get a free college education as a parent I would have to take that chance and let the chips fall where they may. I can see both sides of the argument, but as a parent Im going to do whats best for my child, but have to be willing to accept consequences of such actions. My two cents.

Did the KHSAA put out a press release about DJ Jenkins?

There are always reasons for kids transferring. It may be coaching, problems with other kids, family,or just better situation. It is high school ball and it should be the parents decision (including child) where they go to school. I see no difference in this than parents holding kids back and playing 13 year olds in sixth grade basketball and then making over how great they are....if the kid doesn't want to be there chances are you're not going to get what you want out of them anyways!

Didn't an AAU coach get hired by Scott County this year that has not worked for them in the past? And isn't this same AAU coach DJ's AAU coach? And yes Coach Kendall owns the rental property and they are still living there. Hate it for all involved. Jenkins was a POY candidate in the 10th and his team top 3. Now he isn't playing. Still KHSAA has stunk up another situation because you never know what they are going to do.

This looks like a good case for Perry Mason,,a lot of facts being tossed out there, they all can't be correct....

I can see this both ways.

Kendal for several years could be seen at local gyms dragging lil hc aau teams(10u, 11u) around trying to make the program better. I cant say I saw many if any other 10th region coaches doing this. He certainly seem involved . Losing a kid like this really hurts in a small town.

DJ's parents have every right to move him. Im just thinking they might not have covered all their bases.

Your thinking that the parents did not cover all their bases is the correct answer in all of this.

What im saying is....

Khsaa has transfer rules. Kids transfer all the time and are ruled eligible. When one gets red flagged more times then not something doesn't add up like a valid change of address. I have no idea what the red flag was in this case. Per some posters on this board it looks like maybe this was the issue.

Obviously something has changed since he was ruled eligible, started to play for sc then was ruled ineligible.

I might have missed this in the thread but wasn't he ruled eligible to play at the start of the sc season?

I don't see how. I called today to order my State tourney tickets and it said they were closed for two weeks until Jan 5th. They send out these forms and close for two weeks. Geez!!!

Must be a branch of the Fed. Government.

Am sure it has to do with schools being out for 2 weeks, they go back the 5th I think. Boy it sure would be nice to be off 2 weeks for the holidays

Another case where a simplified transfer rule would help.

Rule would be - you get 1, no questions, for any reason. If you do more than 1 you sit - no questions, no reason, you sit.

All this subjective stuff is crazy.

I'm off till next Monday
