I'm stating that its a real sad gesture to try to seek revenge on a child because you are upset at a decision they made...whether right or wrong. "Break the rules, pay the consequence" is convenient to say when you are trying to justify a childish action. Do you think HC would pursue the rules committee so intently if it was the other way around? If they had a kid playing in their program whose parent don't have residency within the district? I'm pretty sure they wouldnt, so don't try to tell me that it's all about following the rules.

You're smart enough to realize the coach's responsibility is to the team and not an individual player.

 

I am not bashing the kid, I am saying that if you want to play then you have to follow the rules. Enforcing rules isn't a "childish action". Switching teams if you are unhappy is better fit in the summer leagues and AAU.

I hope that if the Harrison County coach was the one leaving and Jenkins had stayed at Harrison County that everyone would talk about the coach the same way. And for the record, I'm fine with Jenkins leaving just like I'd be fine with the coach leaving. I just feel like a lot of things are being said about Jenkins that may or may not be in his control. He can't transfer on his own.

Case is going to go to circuit court to try and get DJ eligible at Scott Co.

Yeah I totally disagree with you. I have never totally agreed with the coaching abilities at HCHS since Mike Reitz left, but I am in 100% agreement in anything Coach Kendall had to do with this verdict. First of all, it's about time someone stood up to Billy Hicks and the mighty holier than thou Scott County Cardinsls. Second of all, DJ Jenkins got what he deserved by running out on his teammates!

I think it's safe to say people are pretty darn ticked off about the wishy-washy ways of where this business has gone...... In the 70s, 80s, and 90s basketball you played where you played and if you squirreled up the road because of unhappiness, or whatever the reason then that followed you..... Nowadays we enable this behavior and pretend it's about something more than it is........ Come on.......man,

 

I had teammates with feuding parents and knew players that hated their respective coaches, but they roughed it and toughed it and were better for it..... And in many cases that grind alone made them better human beings. Suck it up kids and be grateful you have a place to compete. Always looking for something sexier out there.... That's these kids MO's

People will allow you to do what they let you do...... But no one tells them It's tough when the system fights back though...... Somebody should've laid out the circumstances for that young man. Where were they? Nowhere because they were like him....looking for something better, unsatisfied and couldn't tell sonny NO, you gotta deal with the hand you got.

Correction on that...current step mom's name is on the lease for that house. She was residing there before dad and her got together, which makes this HC coach look even worse, IMO, considering the dad's name isn't even on legal documents.

 

The only argument the coach could make is that they are still married, but separated, so legally the house belongs to both.

Nah, I just think it's kind of stupid that adults can come and go and leave whenever they want to but we penalize kids for for doing the same thing. Coaches are hired and fired and leave for better jobs all of the time. Where is the outrage there? What about the kids who loved playing for their coach who averages 7 wins a season? Where is the loyalty to that coach from the administration? What about the coach who leaves with a talented team for another school with more talent? Where is the outrage there? What about the coach who is hated by his team but averages 29 wins a season because of his hard nose coaching that works? Where is the loyalty to the kids who just want to play ball and have fun?

 

People spend way too much time moaning about kids transferring for whatever reason and I never see anyone scolding coaches for leaving schools for better opportunities. It's okay for coaches to switch schools for family reasons but let a kid have to make a choice between living with his mom or dad or a legal guardian and folks come out the woodworks crying foul.

 

A damn shame is what I say.

 

And again, I am all for transfers being eligible immediately and I am all for coaches doing what they feel is the best decision for them. I'll never hate on any decision made by anyone. People have to make choices that they feel are best for them and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that at all.
