Nah, I just think it's kind of stupid that adults can come and go and leave whenever they want to but we penalize kids for for doing the same thing. Coaches are hired and fired and leave for better jobs all of the time. Where is the outrage there? What about the kids who loved playing for their coach who averages 7 wins a season? Where is the loyalty to that coach from the administration? What about the coach who leaves with a talented team for another school with more talent? Where is the outrage there? What about the coach who is hated by his team but averages 29 wins a season because of his hard nose coaching that works? Where is the loyalty to the kids who just want to play ball and have fun?

 

People spend way too much time moaning about kids transferring for whatever reason and I never see anyone scolding coaches for leaving schools for better opportunities. It's okay for coaches to switch schools for family reasons but let a kid have to make a choice between living with his mom or dad or a legal guardian and folks come out the woodworks crying foul.

 

A damn shame is what I say.

 

And again, I am all for transfers being eligible immediately and I am all for coaches doing what they feel is the best decision for them. I'll never hate on any decision made by anyone. People have to make choices that they feel are best for them and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that at all.

Granted it has happened twice this year with both kids being basketball players at Scott County and that irony is not lost on me either. :lol2: I still claim anomaly in 2014.

Where is that game played? Should be interesting!

Correction on that...current step mom's name is on the lease for that house. She was residing there before dad and her got together, which makes this HC coach look even worse, IMO, considering the dad's name isn't even on legal documents.

 

The only argument the coach could make is that they are still married, but separated, so legally the house belongs to both.

So here's the story I've gotten after talking to people close to the situation. ..

 

DJ's dad was renting a house in HC until his wife and him split. DJ and his dad moved to Georgetown because of issues between the wife and dad. Wife didnt go to Grown so a house is still being rented in HC in dad's name.

 

This is how the coach was able to contest the ruling and get DJ ruled ineligible. If the dad and step mom were divorced, there'd be no issues.

Case is going to go to circuit court to try and get DJ eligible at Scott Co.

 

The person who told me he lived in Paris with his mom didnr have the facts straight which disappoints me because it was someone I really trust and now I'm having to lay out the true FACTS after talking to someone much closer to the situation.

 

That is why he was sitting on the bench for Scott Co at the Beach Ball Classic. I just couldn't see him doing this and try to transfer back to the 10th region.

Of all these post I haven't seen one that talks about his focus on getting a good education wherever he ends up which is the most important reasoning for a school because basketball will not last forever. Also, he isn't the only kid from Harrison County to transfer for sports reasons. With better and more advanced coaches rather than players daddy's this stuff doesn't happen. I wonder if a star baseball player has ever transferred on Mac Whitaker? No because he makes you a better baseball player and prepares you for after high school. The whole thing is sketchy. I would personally just like to see him further his education after high school rather then bouncing around everywhere.

I've skimmed thru some of the posts and still don't know what is going on. So is DJ playing with Scott County right now?, has he missed games? Is he enrolled or trying to enroll at Paris? Don't want to get a whole soapbox thing going, just the facts. Thanks.
