Russellville is in the 4th Region, so that solves one of your "dilemma's." Maybe stick Travis in his spot.

Yep, you are right. So forget everything I said about Tony Key. Put Travis Ford in his place, and we're good.

Thanks.

I could not find a 4th Region so with my limited knowledge I will throw some names out there to get the feedback started:

Darrell Carrier - Bristow - now would be Warren East

Jim McDaniel - Allen County - Scottsville

Tony Key - Russellville

Bubba Wells - Russellville ( I believe - I know his brother excelled at Todd Co.)

Someone off the 68 Glasgow team

J P Blevins - Metcalfe County

Brandon Stockton - Glasgow

Josh Carrier - Bowling Green

Jerome Gumm - Barren County ( Sr. year only, transfer in)

I'm gonna try a 10th but won't get it right so please feel free to add to or take away.

Chris Lofton

Brent Bach

Chris Harrison

Alvin Simms

Darren Feldhause

That's just scratching the surface of all the greats that have played in the 10th like I said I've probally overlooked some one that's more deserving and I applogize in advance.

Derek Robinson - Bourbon co

Chris Lofton - mason co

Jerry Fogle - Harrison co

Cory Williams - Bourbon Co

Deron Feldhaus - Mason Co

Reserves:

Downtown Daniel Brown - Nicholas

Siri Myrick- Maysville

Jay Gast - St Pat

Alvin Simms - Paris

Billy Ray Fawns - MoCo

Bruce Jones - Bath Co.

10th Region:

Chris Harrison - Tollesboro

Chris Lofton - Mason County

Ronnie Lyons - Mason County

Darius Miller - Mason County

Talbert Turner - Pendleton County

12th would have a decent team but I'll let someone more knowledgeable list them.

A old school guys would be

Reggie Hanson (UK) Pulaski

Mark Fothergil (Maryland) Somerset

Paul Andrews (UK) Laurel

Brian Sheppard (Auburn) Pulaski

Tim Stephens (UK) McCreary

Bill Lewis (Sam Houston) Somerset

There are of course many more from the 12th

Leonard Coulter of Danville

Doug Pendygraft of Parksville

Im a 13th region guy and will only comment on those players Ive seen in person and can only go back to 1972.

#1..Ritchie Farmer(Clay)..hands down best to play at the high school level.

#2...Gary Gregory(Clay)...he made defenders look silly with his ball handling skills.

#3...Ben Franklin (OBI)...silky smooth

#4...Nick Sanford (Cawood)...often looked lazy but actually the game was just easy to him.

#5...Charles Thomas (Harlan)...pull up jumper or take you to the rim...

Platoon System...

#6...Phil Cox (cawood)...if the 3 point shot had been in effect he would have scored 4500 career points

#7...Jeff Kyle (Mboro)...could not stop him

#8...Tony Pietroski (Corbin)...smart, talented and loved to win

#9...Dinky Phipps (Bville)...you try to guard him

#10...Robert Mayhall (Mboro)...Big man and good

Ive heard of the legends of the game and can only wish there was video of these athletes from the 60's and 50's...guys like, Bobbie Lee Slusher from Lone Jack..Larry Pursiful from Bell...Skimp Campbell, Ray Mills and Pearl Hicks from Clay...Frank Selvey from Corbin, (hard to argue with 100 pt game in college)..Terry Mills from Knox...Wah Wah Jones from Harlan...Dickie Parsons from Harlan...and 100 other deserving mountain players...

wrong guy

3rd Region - I'm sure I'm missing some and not sure who the top 5 would be:

Rex Chapman - Apollo

Jeff Jones - Apollo

Steve Barker - Apollo

Kenny Higgs - OHS

Randy Embry - OHS

Jerry Thruston - OHS

James McNary - OCHS

Cliff Hagan - OHS

Bobby Watson - OHS

John Worth - DCHS

Rod Drake - OHS

Dwight Higgs - OHS (think he is still the scoring leader at OHS)

Brandon Davenport - OHS

Patrick Sparks - MC

I think Eli Wright and Aric Holman will be in the conversation after their careers. I'm sure there are alot of guys from Muhlenburg (Harper, etc) that could be listed as well.

Really like the list. Just needs a little spell check suggestion!!?

Any 9th region list has to include Tom Thacker from William Grant. All-American, NCAA Champion (twice at U.C.), and long career in N.B.A. Guess I am showing by age.

Guard Heavy:

Joe Ford - Mayfield

Phil Rollins - Wickliffe

Kenny Rollins - Wickliffe

Adrian Smith - Farmington

Barry Goheen - Marshall Co

Off the Bench:

Ryan Cochran - St Mary

Dan Langhi - Marshall Co

Coaches: Jack Story, McCoy Terry and Craynor Sloane

Not familiar with this region, but hard to imagine ever leaving Adrian Smith (Odie) off. NCAA champion at U.K., Olympic Gold medal winner, long NBA career and MVP winner in NBA All-Star game. Still drives the 1966 Ford Fairlane convertible prize given. Class act, and I never understood why UK has not retired his jersey.

Yes, Frank Selvy played In the NBA and was the 1st overall pick, played most of his career with the Minneapolis/Los Angeles Lakers. Not sure of the years he played but believe it was late 50's to late 60's. Also had a 100 point game at Furman, not sure of his high school career though. He is the uncle of one of my best friends so that's where I got my "facts"

How about this for the 9th region:

Tom Thacker (Won a championship at all three levels, Covington Grant, UC, Pro)

Paul Arnzen

Dave Cowens- Newcath

Lou Herndon

Ralph Simpson

All 5 played professionally either in the NBA or ABA.

Nice! And I would add the following 2 players to come off the bench. Randy Noll from CovCath's 67 state runner-up team and Dave Hickey from Holy Cross's 65 state runner-up team.
