Alex Poythress suffers knee injury

Featured Replies

So sad to hear about this for AP.

Does anyone know if this was the same knee he got hurt in the celebration after the final four victory? I am just curious because that way his knee got hyper extended in that celebration surprised me that he didn't tear anything there. So I just wonder if somehow if he had tore it a little bit but just has been able to play on it, and that is why it eventually popped on just what was a break away layup.

Forgive my ignorance, but how does insurance work for these college athletes? It is great if they have it.

Additionally, it makes me wonder...is this a recruiting tool as well? I would think it would have to be. It could sure open up a can of worms though.

I'm not 100% positive on how it works but I vaguely remember that if Nerlens would have gotten drafted a few spots later, he would have cashed in on his insurance policy. Someone correct me if I'm wrong..

That's a really good question futurecoach. I think that happens quite a bit and people don't realize it. You definitely might be on to something.

You don't really have any way of knowing, but I do believe that happen to me when I tore my ACL.

The bolded.

Not bad for a team of only "one and dones." :thumb:

Same knee, his left one.

Minor setback for a major comeback. God always has a plan.

Derek Anderson said he is going to visit Alex Poythress this afternoon. No one knows about overcoming ACL injuries more

A lot of high profile players have insurance on them. The schools are allowed to pay the premiums for them while they are in school. I heard about this earlier during the football season when a player got hurt (forget who). I am sure all schools are allowed to provide this for selected students (who have a legitimate of playing in the pros). What I am not sure about is (1) how many schools do and (2) how is it decided who qualifies (for example, the 4th string center on UK's football team is most likely not playing in the NFL - can you get insurance on him? I am sure you cannot but how do you decide who you can get insurance for?)...

Good old Lordes of London.

Are they affiliated in any way with Lloyd's of London:)??

Looks like the insurance is sanctioned and approved by the NCAA.

You can tell I don't have to worry about that type of insurance.:lol2:

He's only in his third year, but I'm pretty sure he's set to graduate after three.

Now THAT is getting it done!

He wanted to go to class last night after this happened. “This kid’s crazy,” John Calipari told reporters today. He said he told Alex, “Stop with the class and relax for a minute.”
