November 12, 201411 yr I think Coughlin is an interesting candidate, if you would even consider him one. The Giants have the two Superbowl victories, but he has had some rough patches. I think his style can wear on a team after a while... but you see that with a lot of guys. I think he should continue being a head coach in the NFL, just not in NY. A fresh voice is not always a bad thing. Coughlin has been there for 10 seasons now.
November 13, 201411 yr Coughlin could be good for the Bengals and vice versa. He will be 69 though before the beginning of next season. I wonder if he is let go from the Giants if he will just retire.

Coughlin will probably retire unless he is ticked off enough to want to prove he can coach. So the Bengals will go thru a series of interviews with OCs and DCs from other teams and the current Bengals OC and DC and then pick one who will hold the company line and work cheap.
November 13, 201411 yr If we're just going to toss out names...I'll throw Brian Billick into the mix. Was OC at Minnesota when they had some explosive offensives, and of course won a SB at Baltimore. Add in the fact that he's an Ohio guy to begin with...he'd have to be a definite maybe, right? :lol2:
November 13, 201411 yr Josh McDaniels is someone I would want. He is someone who didn't do great his first go around as a head coach. However I think that experience will make him better his second time around.
November 13, 201411 yr I highly doubt Marvin will be gone unless he chooses to leave. The next head coach will not be a big name because Mike will make the new coach keep those assistants still under contract. His big investment is AD. He will hire someone to develop him further. Might be a retread like McDaniels, which would be a big mistake IMO. He will go with someone like Lenihan or Norv Turner.
November 13, 201411 yr Hue Jackson would fit the old Bengals model. Coordinator who's failure leads to head coach getting fired then poor performing coordinator gets to replace head coach. If Marvin is fired and they hire within, fans beware and brace yourselves for ... Paul Alexander.

They need a defensive minded guy back in the fold.
