Let's get on with it and just expand this dumb thing already. I think 8 is the right number. 5 conference winners plus 3 at large teams...there would still be some controversy every year (there always will be) but we won't have the nonsense of a major conference champ being left out. I know we could then have the argument of a relatively unqualified conference champ getting in but the 3 at large teams would give other teams a chance to get in anyway.

November 12, 201411 yr As long as FSU is in the top 4 shoudl they remain undefeated, I really don't care a lot. In fact, I'd rather they be 4 than 2 or 3 if it's an SEC team at #1. That's not to say I'd rather them play the SEC necessarily, but I would rather them play an SEC team in the Sugar Bowl than Oregon in the Rose.

I like 8 also but I don't want a 8-5 conf champ getting in over a clearly stronger 10-2 or even 9-3 team. Take top 8 and be done with it.
November 12, 201411 yr Not sure why the committee is so up on Miss State and down on Florida St. The wins at home over Auburn and at LSU were good wins but the rest of the schedule so far has not been good. And I hate Florida State.
November 12, 201411 yr No reason for any team to complain. The only two undefeated power 5 teams are in. Everyone else has a loss and should have taken care of business. If you go undefeated in one of those conferences you're a shoein.

Clemson ended up 10-2 on the season. BTW, Florida State ended up #2 in the Coaches' Poll and #3 in the AP that year.

Add to there problems the Cats are not good again and might not get a bowl game. Have mercy please. They all deserve it being they as a group are always so kind to the other conferences who are down and always most respectful to fans of other teams.

They are facts that must be stated to support the fact that a team can have a blemish (or maybe two) and still make it into the top 4. However, in the case of Florida State in 1989, they had to have a convincing victory in its bowl game over a top 10 opponent before it could vault into the top 4.
November 12, 201411 yr At the rate this FSU can go undefeated and not make the playoffs. What happens if Bama beats Miss. State this weekend and the other 3 teams win? Bama makes the top 4, Miss. State stays in the top 4 and FSU is out? Doesn't make sense. I also think Miami is vastly underrated right now and should be favored to defeat FSU this weekend.
