CFB Playoff Rankings 11/11/14

Featured Replies

Question: Why is a 9-0 Marshall not even in the top 25? They are ranked in the AP and Coaches. This week a 2 loss Minnesota team makes the playoff top 25 after beating Iowa. Minnesota is not ranked in either poll. These two teams have one common opponent in Middle Tennessee and Minnesota won by 9 and Marshall won by 20. I am not a Marshall fan but I think I know the answer to this. Who does Minnesota play this week? The Buckeyes and if Ohio State beats a ranked opponent then how does that bolster their case for making the playoffs? This plot smells fishy to me.

Head to head doesn't matter?

If Baylor and TCU win out, Baylor wins the Big 12, because of the head to head win. So conference championship doesn't matter, either.

This is crap.

Not sure why the committee is so up on Miss State and down on Florida St. The wins at home over Auburn and at LSU were good wins but the rest of the schedule so far has not been good. And I hate Florida State.

IMO FSU and MSU should be 1-2.

You have to go based on this year's body of work. The fact that FSU went undefeated last year doesn't figure into the equation at this point in the year. It did in the beginning of the year for initial starting point, but not now.

MSU should be number one by a slight margin. The two games you just mentioned are better wins then any of FSU's wins.

Personally I think Bama fixes that this week.

At the rate this FSU can go undefeated and not make the playoffs. What happens if Bama beats Miss. State this weekend and the other 3 teams win? Bama makes the top 4, Miss. State stays in the top 4 and FSU is out?

Doesn't make sense.

I also think Miami is vastly underrated right now and should be favored to defeat FSU this weekend.

I don't see any way that happens.

They need to go to 8 teams at least so they can afford to stick a team like undefeated Marshall in.

By the way, Vegas oddsmakers say that Alabama would be favored over any of the top 4 teams.

Please do not state facts like that.

The all-powerful SEC did not win it all last year and there is a very good chance they do not win it all year. So let the SEC fans vent.

Add to there problems the Cats are not good again and might not get a bowl game.

Have mercy please.

They all deserve it being they as a group are always so kind to the other conferences who are down and always most respectful to fans of other teams.

Cool, make sure you go off topic for an opportunity to take a jab at UK. You're consistent if nothing else.

I do not think Marshall deserves a playoff spot I was just telling you about the OSU csonspiracy. The only reason Minnesota is in the playoff poll is to improve the OSU strength of schedule.

It does matter, but Baylor won that game at the last second on their home field by three points.

In subsequent games, both went on the road to West Virginia. TCU won that game. Baylor were beaten by two touchdowns.

Something I think they are forgetting is that FSU played their toughest game to date (maybe of the season) without their best player and still won that game.

I think what's hurting FSU from a perception standpoint is that unlike last season (where they destroyed everyone) they haven't blown anyone beside Wake Forest out...

OK St by 6

Citadel by 25

Clem by 6

NC St by 15 (giving up 41 points)

WF by 40

Cuse by 18

ND by 4

Cards by 11

UVA by 14

IMO they should be #1 going back to last season.

Miss St wins are by similar margin, only argument for Miss St over FSU is that last year or streak doesn't matter to this season and Miss St wins over @LSU and home against Auburn are more impressive than FSU home wins over Clemson and Notre Dame.

IMO it's just splitting hairs...if both win then both are in and it all works it's self out.

^ It's doubly impressive that they're winning at all considering Winston is shaving points the whole first half...

:D

You are taking a shot at the committee in one breath for potentially dropping FSU from the top 4, then in the other saying should not be favored against Miami. If they should not be favored this weekend (which they should be, Miami is just ok), you can argue they do not deserve to be in the top 4.

It is not their lack of victory margin, it is that they've had to come from behind in over half their games. Some against teams they had no business trailing.

I have never understood the rationale of "they are the champs and #1 until someone beats them." There is so much turnover in college football it is a different team.

The biggest kink will come about if Bama wins a tough game Saturday, then they win out as do the Bulldogs. For anti-SEC folks, root for Bama to blow out Mississpi State this weekend then have the Tide lose in the SEC title game. I think that would axe any SEC team from the Final Four assuming others take care of business.

Any playoff that leaves out an undefeated defending national champion is invalid from the get go. I don't see that happening.

As far as Miami goes, if I didn't know better, I'd think you were sandbagging. :D
