Mason County will announce new coach tomorrow at 2. The speed of this hire makes me think it's someone in house.

This is true but I don't think it is someone in house.

Has to be someone in house unless they are not a teacher. There hasn't been enough time to pass for it to be an outside hire (30 days).

I guess perhaps it could be a "handshake" agreement on the job part...

But I've thought in house all along, so I won't be surprised if it stays that way.

That's what I was thinking.

Has to be someone retired who doesn't need a teaching gig or someone in house who already has one, right?

Think you guys are right, I am now hearing in house. Guess, iI really don't know. Heard a name but not going to say. Sorry.

I'll update the list tomorrow after the Mason County announcement. In the meantime, does anyone have any info on the rumor plantmanky heard about a hire being made at McCreary County? And do we have actual verification that Clay Dalton is the official hire at Jackson County?

Early word (no confirmation as of yet) on the Bellevue thread is that former Ludlow assistant and Walton Verona Head Coach, Woody McMillan is expected to take over for the Tigers.

What is the updated list?

Still nothing official at McCreary Central. The head coach position is still posted on their website. Also still looking for official verification on whether or not Jackson County has hired Clay Dalton as their head coach. Rumors are also flying about Bellevue looking at hiring Woody McMillen.

Well what Jr. high coach are you talking about. I don't know any that have year round weights, passing so on and so.

Not to hijack the thread but we are pretty close and there are a number of other MS not far off it. Weights are a little harder due to age and facilities. The rest though happens without question.

Anybody know whats going on with McCreary Co? I heard its a circus but someone has been hired.

Justin Bozeman has been conducting Spring Practice. He was at McCreary as Asst. Coach 2 times and Head Coach once several years back. Has been an Asst. Football Coach at Whitley County last 5 or 6 years.

What happened with the Caverna job? Did the old coach take another job?

He had been & still is teaching at Somerset, and just made the drive every day after school with the time change. I don't think Caverna has any teaching spots open right now as is, but it said on the KHSAA posting that they anticipated to have a few. He is going back (I guess you could say) to Somerset full time.

It's a numbers game at that place. Always has been-moreso than most. He was able to get about 30 or so out this past year and did a great job with them, the problem is, half of them were seniors.

Their schedule next year is brutal. They are playing in two bowl games that I know of, Somerset and Trigg County, against both of them for two years. They are also playing Edmonson County and a 9-4 Adair County squad that has literally everybody back. That's a heck of a four games for most all teams Class A-3A, but especially for one of the smallest football playing schools in the state.

Thanks for the reply. So he was teaching in Somerset but was allowed to be the head coach at Caverna? And man, that's a tough drive to make every day and be involved in the program. More power to the man that can do that. 30 kids is impressive considering they only have about 120 in the high school.

Anytime.

I agree. 30 boys out of the total 120. Better ratio than most.

Yep, he sure was. That's exactly what I said.

I know their baseball team has always struggled with numbers, too. Last year they even had to cancel some games because they didn't have enough, but they have been able to get their new coach in the system and numbers for baseball have more than doubled.

It's always been an interesting place, and despite their frequent turnover and relative lack of success, every time it comes open you see people that are curious about it. Athletes are their for sure. It has potential, whatever one might determine as such..but, it's there.

It's not a quick fix place. I don't even think it's a year or two then bounce somewhere else type gig because of what it would take to get things going on any kind of continuous basis.

Only thing I can figure with them signing onto play both Somerset & Trigg in their bowl games is they must really need the $$$.
