Open Jobs/Filled Jobs 2014-2015

I don't know what is considered "big names". Did Bob Beatty apply? Chris Wolf? Mike Glaser coming out of retirement for this job? Mike Jackson leaving Ballard for this job? Bob Redman throw his hat in the ring?

I would say Marc Sanders and Hunter Cantwell are pretty big names for Louisville area football. Remember there are more schools and people outside of 6A football.

April and still 11 jobs open. Practices will be here before you know it.

Sanders and Cantwell did not apply. Adam Billings has been named head coach at North Bullitt.

Oh my

Just saw on Twitter that David Buchanan is leaving Mason Co. after 19 yrs to be the coach at his alma mater Mercer Co.

Another in a long tradition of hires that shows being friends with administration is the most important qualification.

Did not win at Etown with the tradition and resources, interested to see how successful he can be at North when he has to build the tradition and facilities.

I do no think there was much at etown when he took over???? Unless I'm mistaken? I think he went from about 30 players when first getting there to around/over 60 when he left. I know he didn't win right away, but after going 1-21, they went 6-5 in his last season while playing with a roster full of sophomores and juniors (he had less than a handful of seniors).

I didn't see too many etown games in the past three years, but I know they beat Bullitt Central with less numbers and lineman that he could develop at North?

Idk? Time will tell, but established coach Mark Brown went 7-4 at etown the year after Billings left while playing the same schedule after not losing much (unless those 4 seniors were monsters the year before???).

If I'm not mistaken, Etown has turf field, locker room, nice new video board and the advantages of being an independent school district.

With the construction in Bullitt Co, North I believe has no practice field, a superintendent who will make no investment in athletics (all 3 Bullitt schools cannot host track meets due to their terrible condition) and finished the year with under 30 kids at a 5A school. There is no MS football either. Coming from Etown and St X just curious how Coach Billings will thrive without the support and built in advantages those schools have.

Probably as good as anybody else considering how desperately in need they are of things around there. And, I heard that from about as close to the horses mouth as you can get.

I don't have a dog in this. Had no idea he had even applied. But, when he took over E-town, it was similar to that 10 you see in the bar, and you think, "Man, why isn't she with anybody?" Then, after a couple nights out, you realize why because behind the beauty, she's a complete train wreck.

Part of the deal to him taking the job was that he had to keep the former HC on staff as the OC. Nothing against either men, but that had to be rough. I also know that the for the few years leading up to him getting the job, Brad Todd (former HC) tried getting some coaches in the building and it never happened. They didn't have one person in the building, and I'm not one of these that drinks the kool-aid of the head coach being in the building as a cure all. But, you better have somebody(s) if he isn't. Long story short, numbers were on a constant decline and were when he took over.

In 2012, many of those sophomores he went 6-5 with in 2013 (his last year) & the juniors this past year that Mark Brown went 7-4 with were playing some major roles as freshmen.

For whatever it's worth, their baseball and basketball teams might be the most respected in the 5th region (definitely nobody in the region who has more success on a yearly basis in both than them) weren't exactly up to par either during a couple of those years. They've also had 3 Superintendents in the last 6-7 years.

NB has a junior to be class I hear that might be the best to come through in a while, if not ever. Like it is with most things in the sports world, especially high school...when you have some players rolling through, coupled with a relative wide open schedule (and, region for that matter) it usually turns out well. Because, as you know, those two things right there dictate a lot more than most are willing to ever admit.

....and, they are tearing out part of their locker room to put in bathrooms for the public.

Currently, fans have to walk over to Hebron MS to use the restroom during games.

Let's face it, Etown's "football" facility was built for their girls soccer team...that's the reality! Etown doesn't get to use the locker room except for game nights...that sums it up right there!
