I think so, haven't seen it announced but was told today.

Southern has hired Mike Gossett

That was a homerun hire for Southern...great coach and even better person. Good luck to Coach Gossett and Southern High School football team!

Did anyone ever confirm if Fort Knox will have a team or even be open as a school next year? I know there has been speculation.

Any info on what happened with Coach Newton?

His wife recently lost her battle with cancer. He is eligible for retirement this year, so I heard he is retiring from the classroom as well.

Oh wow...sorry to hear that. Good luck and all the best to Coach Newton, by all means.

I have some friends in Bullitt County, I hear all this has happened in the last few weeks.

She passed away on February 11th I believe it was. Talk about one of the good guys in the business, Coach Newton is just that. I think last week is when he had decided this is what he wanted to do. I'm guessing it's official now? I was hoping he would hang on for another year or so. I can't say enough about the man.

Newton did a good job at North Bullitt for a long time. I had no idea he was that close to retirement age. Best wishes going forward and condolences to him on the passing of his wife.

I know they had to forfeit against Desales, and that was their only one. But, how many other games were really close to them not being able to have enough numbers?

And this is nothing but me speaking in a purely rational or logical way, but I'd assume the longer they go without making a hire, the less likely they field a team. But, I'd say we would have heard news about the school as a whole by now.

What I have heard is that they will have school next year...whether or not they field a team is still up in the air. I think it would be poor decision making on their part if they choose not to have a team this late for scheduling reasons...I'm sure there would be at least the district teams with out games not including other games that they scheduled (if they done so). If was to guess they will not field a team in the Fall of 2015...I hope I am wrong.

CWB,
