When there is about a week or two left, the directors will request from each school their win-loss records in order to seed the tourney. They've been doing it this way for awhile. Why? not sure!

 

I think coaches and teams should know. Could potentially make games more interesting.

I'll echo the thoughts of Mex and Q -- the 7th grade team at HMS is much improved. Scraped the motion offense that they were running at the beginning of the year and are now executing a high/low game. They have been very good of late. Record is now like 16-2.

 

Highlands is a good team. Good length and strength in the post. Guards are solid and disciplined. I haven't seen Conner this year, but last year they were pretty good. I have seen Pius. Maher is a beast. Young man is long, strong, and most importantly, skilled. They have a lot of solid (role) players around him that are smart kids that make good decisions, move the ball, and take good shots.

Not trying to bust your bubble, but Conner would smash Highlands if they played again. I believe the game you are referring to was just the 2nd game of the year. Conner has had their big improve significantly from that game... and Conner did not put the press on you either. Script definitely gets flipped if they play again.

 

When Highlands presses they cause issues bc Huddleston plays an excellent rover at the bottom of their diamond. He covers so much ground. The 7th grade as a team are prone to dry spells but the defense is always there. To beat them you need a special talent like Maher, or a team to catch fire like Camp Ernst. HMS 7th still pulled that one out.

Well that's different... I'm new to the middle school basketball seen around here. Have watched a few games, watched Jones upset Newport tonight.

 

6th went to OT and Jones won, had one kid for them hit some clutch shots there at the end.

 

7th not so hot but I was told that 7th grade team for Newport is one of the best in NKY.

 

8th graders were impressive, Jones had one kid score 17 or 19 in the first quarter. JonesEnded up winning 49-43 I think. I was told by a Newport Dad they were second too Beechwoods 8th in the small Division.

Glad to see RA Jones having some success. Sounds like the Big/Small division is good for them. I know they've struggled in years past. Hopefully, this new set up will encourage more kids to play & even more so, will encourage those who do play, to work at their games knowing goals can be reached.

Beechwood 6th beat a very good Oak Hills team in the semi finals of the St. Ignatius Tournament by 14pts. They play next Sunday for all of the marbles..Great job Tigers!!!:ylsuper:
