Do Ky Public Middle School teams have a maximum number of games that they can play in the regular season?

As a state rule no not yet.

Beechwood 6th beat Sharp by 40 or so tonight. Tigers played crazy lineups and didn't press the whole game.

The kids were excited they got to take a bus to the game!

Any word on the game time of the game next Sunday? The championship?

Conner basketball sweeps Grant County all double digits win, 6th closer to 30 point spread.

Colts 7th and 8th play Walton Verona on Thursday. No game for the 6th, not sure if WV has a 6th grade team or not.

Walton doesn't have a 6th grade team.

Game time for the Championship was moved to 2:50pm Sunday..

Highlands 6th and 7th grade teams both with wins over Twenhofel tonight.

I think the 6th grade boys team is still undefeated.

The 7th grade team has already played 24 games. They are 22-2.

I saw the very end of the eighth grade highlands-twenhofel game.... Can anyone fill me in as to what led to the technical foul in the third quarter?

Highlands 8th beat Twenhofel 45-40 on the road.

The double technical was a bad call. Macke had the rebound secured and a Twenhofel player reached in to tie him up. There was an aggressive struggle and both kids went to the floor. The Twenhofel player in question is an overly aggressive kid who tends to get in foul trouble everytime I see him play. I am all for playing hard and being competetive but it appears to me he has some anger issues. I dont think the refs had a clue about anything in that game, especially the older guy with glasses who looks like a scientist. He ate his whistle the entire night. They called a double technical and then awarded Twenhofel the ball as the possession arrow pointed their way. In the end it didnt matter.

Twenhofel is not a very disciplined team or their coach gives them the green light to jack up 3's everytime down the court.

Highlands still shows a lack of Basketball IQ late in games jacking up 3's up 8 pts with 2 minutes left and forcing shots when you dont have to. Highlands also took home all 3 of their timeouts which I didnt understand either, especially when it was only a 5 point game under a minute and things got a little crazy out there. A win is a win and it was a good win on the road.

Macke led the Birds in scoring. Grady Cramer drilled 2 FTs late in the game as did Brandon Finn and Jack Hegge to ice it. I am not sure of the Birds record I think they are a little over 500 at this point.

The 7th graders look pretty solid out there with the Twin Towers. The guards have gotten a lot better as well. Nice win last night without the services of Ahlfeld and Delegrange who were in street clothes.

The fact that Ahlfeld has missed two games for the incompetence of an official really ticks me off. He hit a kids arm off his jersey who was holding him. That play happens all of the time on out of bounds plays. The ref was BEHIND the player holding the jersey and only saw Ahfeld's hand swing. He had no view of intent, contact, just saw an arm swing. That refs had let the game get out of hand well before that as Highlands and Summit View games have been known to do. He was grasping at straws trying to get ahold of it, but w/ 17 sec. to go he made that call.

That's horrible!

I don't see anyone beating the 6th grade. I do think the Woodland game should be a good game though. The most they have been tested was by Beechwood in the finals of the Woodfill Tournament. I also believe Conner played well against them.

So with the Highlands 6th grade team being undefeated and the 7th grade team at 22-2 the $1Million question is......will this success stay with them as they move onto HS? The 8th Grade team has some decent talent as well and it appears there is a nice combination of strong guards/Post Players as well as Wings in all 3 classes.

The answer to your question is: Doubtful. Not many other kids come to Highlands in High School (just the Highlands Middle School kids). Many of the other schools always stay a step or two ahead because they have more than one school providing the athletes to the high school teams. So great Highlands Middle School teams mostly don't translate into being the elite high school teams.
