September 10, 201412 yr If Goodell isn't fire then who do we trust moving forward as Commissioner of the NFL? What other issues have been covered up? Just think it's time for a change, especially after this latest Brain Fart! Please just clean house......

I disagree Ray Rice didn't tell them Exactly what happened. He had the league and team convinced he was provoked. He wasn't provoked if anything he did all the provoking. That is why the punishment changes and it has to do with him lying.

While we all we originally saw was Rice dragging his unconscious fiancee out of an elevator, once he said he did strike her, that should have been enough for the NFL to know that something awful happened in there. We are such a visual society though, that it seems like we had to see it to realize believe how awful it was.
September 10, 201412 yr This whole situation is a PR nightmare for the NFL. IMO, the only way they can save face is to get rid of Goodell.
September 10, 201412 yr As was stated in another thread, it doesn't matter if they saw the video or not. Ray Rice told them exactly what happened and it was what was on the tape. This I disagree with. The reason Rice got cut by the Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the NFL is because he did not tell them EXACTLY what happened. He shaded the truth, lyed, was dishonest, whatever we want to call it. I think he told them there was a scuffle, she hit her head and that is what knocked her out. See, that is what happened, right? Except he left out the part where he threw a knockout punch as part of the scuffle. The tape showed that Rice lyed to the team and the NFL and that is why he is gone. And I still don't believe the NFL saw the video until the last couple days.

I am not defending Goodell, I am just trying to put myself in his shoes. This was not just Rice coming in to Goodell's office and he taking just his side of the story and making a terrible decision.

Just think it's time for a change, especially after this latest Brain Fart! Please just clean house...... Goodell has also grown the NFL to heights it has never seen. His iron fist when he first arrived was something drastically needed because the league was being railroaded by the players.
September 10, 201412 yr Goodell has also grown the NFL to heights it has never seen. His iron fist when he first arrived was something drastically needed because the league was being railroaded by the players. Now that is garbage. Goodell fell into a dream job. Nothing Goodell did grew the NFL into what it is now. The NFL was already the biggest sports franchise in the country. A trained Monkey could have been "succesful" taking over the job when Goodell did. I laugh whenever I hear someone say Goodell grew the league, he did no such thing. It's like someone saying Ben and Jerry made ice cream popular. Also when you infer that Goodell made a big problem in off the field issues better since he took over, the truth of the matter is he hasn't. There are still a ton of drug arrests, DUI arrests, domestic violence arrests, and sexual assaults taking place. Actually since Goodell has taken over there have been more NFL players killing people (DUI related) than before. To think Goodell improved the league and cleaned it up is a false statement. September 10, 201412 yr I would bet any amount of money in the world that NFL employees saw the video.

Replace Roger Goodell with Bud Selig and see if the results would be different. The NFL is good because of the leadership they have in place and always evolving. That is not done by osmosis. Sure it was the most popular league... but that gap has also widened even more in his tenure.
