Goodell should be fired either way

Featured Replies

I know some peeps on here think I am silly but we need a government commission to get to the bottom of this.

Everyone involved gets one chance to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth and if not they need to be crushed.

Seriously? I'd rather let the government worry about ISIS, the drug epidemic, and fixing Social Security. Things they should be getting to the bottom of.

I think what will happen is Goodell resigns. He probably will work out a nice package with the owners to step down.

There is room to do all of them.

The parachute will be gilded, to be sure.

Truthfully, I'm finding it hard to get worked up about Goodell. I'm still focused on the earlier stages. If law enforcement had the video or at least knew what was on it, who's the bonehead prosecutor that thought diversion was a good idea? That's the person that needs to lose his job.

Rice didn't tell them what actually happened. He said he knocked her out but reports were that he and his wife told the team and NFL she was also to blame meaning she provoked him. She said this to save his job and the video didn't show that at all. Why do you think the NFL hid the fact they saw the video?

because if came out they did see it then they would be made to look stupid. Now that the video came out and the Nfl in its stupidity didn't think it would, now has to act like they never saw it. That is why they reacted the way they did.

For people to say the video doesn't show anything different than the story Ray gave them is naive at best.

Not true. His wife has taken blame for this incident from day one and has never changed her stance. The NFL knew what happened in that elevator before the video was released and they dropped the ball on his punishment.

ESPN - Law enforcement official told AP he sent video of Ray Rice elevator incident to NFL executive in April

Exactly!!! His wife has taken blame from the start which is why the video shed new light on the incident. It showed she did not provoke him at all and they lied to the NFL and the Ravens about what happened. Today also a security worker for the casino said he did in fact spit on her twice as we all saw on the video.

She said what she needed to say to keep her money train on the tracks. That is why I said the video showed a different story than what they were told.

Maybe the video showed a slightly different story than what the NFL wanted us to know.

I'm sure it did.

Im also sure that if it wasn't a star of the league this wouldn't be an issue because the player would have had a more severe suspension from the start.

The question is, why did they want to hide the fact they saw the video? Was it because

1 they wanted to protect a star

or

2 because they handed down the punishment before they did their due diligence in investigating the incident

or

3 or a combo of both?

But he told the NFL he knocked her out. Which he did. That's not lying. Unless she is beating Ray Rice up with a baseball bat for no reason there is no excuse for Ray to knock her out. The police knew the whole story and saw all video evidence and she didn't want to pursue charges against Ray. They then told the NFL the same thing. That's not lying.

We all know he admitted to knocking her out. That isn't at question.

The reason he hit her is what is in question and does not go along with what the video shows.

It's like a cop admitting to shooting someone and his reason for saying he shot the suspect was because he was being attacked but then a video comes out that shows he wasn't being attacked, does that justify the shooting?

There isn't a good reason to hit her. That's my point. I don't know how any sane person can say he had a reason to hit her. I don't see the NFL saying, "oh we see now, Ray. I'd have knocked her out too. We'll just give you 2 games off." The NFL dropped the ball on this from the jump. The only truth needed was he knocked her out. They had the whole story from the court case, documentation and a story that Ray and Janay told the police that they told the NFL as well. I don't understand how you are missing out on this reported information. Not at one time has anyone ever said Ray Rice is lying. That's why people were so upset when he only got 2 games. The video tape just gave us a visual. The story was reported accurately from day one by all accounts.

It had to do with her sitting there next to Ray at the press conference saying she was to blame. We all know the reason she said that is because she did t want her sugar daddy to get in trouble or at least minimize the trouble he was going to get in and it almost worked, he was only getting 2 games. Now it blew up in all their faces.

The story wasn't being reported accurately from day 1.

Only part of the story was accurate and that was that Ray hit her. The rest of the story was a lie, and that was the part where he and she said she provoked him and we were all to believe, according to ray and his fiancé that she attacked him. You can't say the story was being reported accurately when you leave out very important parts of the story such as Ray spit in her face which drew a soft backhand as she walked by him into the elevator and then he spit again in her face inside the elevator which made her start toward Ray when he knocked her put.

Pretty important facts that he nor she ever reported.

There is room to do all of them.

Okay well I prefer they start on the other three first.

Post links that support your position. I'll post mine that support mine later this evening when I get to work.

I only heard ears her accept blame for the incident. I never heard them say she attacked him. I onl heard her accept blame. She is a textbook case for an abused woman. The only thing they ever acknowledged publicly is that he knocked her out in the elevator. The rest of the story doesn't matter. They were both arrested and after the cops saw the video no charges were filed on her and Ray was charged with felony aggravated assault. What else needs to be said after that? That's what the whole court case was about. No charges on her and felony for him. I'm seriously not sure what part you are missing.
