Yep, the NFL and the Ravens are liars if they say they didn't see it. No way I believe either of them. I mean no way, no how, ever. The are liars!

I agree. With this case getting so much media hype and when the description of what was on the video I side the elevator being reported by sources the NFL deals with on a daily basis, there is no way the league didn't see the video before it was released this morning.

 

Too many sources that didn't have any say in the case knew what was on the video and to think the NFL,or the team never saw it or the very least, asked to see the video is a bunch of bull.

 

I mean their own sources have reported they saw it, and now to say they didn't then they are the biggest liars of them all in this case or they are the dumbest group of people around when all they had to do was ask to see the video as soon as it was made public that the video existed in the first place.

And now Peter King is blaming his source and himself for not checking with the NFL himself before reporting that the NFL saw the tape.

Even if they didn't see the video, Who Cares? Nothing between then and now has changed. The facts were NEVER in dispute. Why the video changes anything only highlights the inconsistency of the NFL and, really, how weak Goodell is.

As I said before. The NFL is stupid for making it 6 games as a first offense punishment. Zero tolerance for this kind of behavior.

To clarify I think I've heard it's a minimum of a 6 game suspension, could be more.

Agreed. Goodell is a terrible commissioner.

It was the right move for the Ravens but the cynic in me has to wonder if they would have cut him had he not been on the edge of the 1500 carry mark that usually spells the end for NFL running backs.

There are only 2 reasons that the Ravens cut Rice. 1. B/c he was about to get suspended for the year, and 2. his paycheck is not equal to his ability. This gave them a chance to cut bait. They did not do this out of the goodness of their collective heart.

Well isn't it sad that the Ravens had to do what the NFL should have done long ago. I still hold Ravens accountable for not doing more in the first place but at least they finally came to their senses.

Ravens insider on ESPN reported the team was prepared to keep Ray Rice as of 8 A.M. this morning. As the public outcry picked back up when the video was released, they had a "change of plans."

 

Seems a little shady by the Ravens and the NFL. I'll never believe they had not seen this video until today.

So Peter has changed course?

The CFL has announced they will honor the NFL's suspension of Rice and he isn't allowed their either.

Probably what actually happened:

 

King had a source, a really good source, who told him that the league had seen the tape. That source was probably correct.

 

It's hard to imagine the league not seeing the tape. TMZ gets it but the league doesn't? There are cameras all over a casino, the recordings are probably kept for quite awhile, and they are probably backed up and secured numerous different ways. The league could get the tape from a casino (of all places) if they wanted it, and I'd bet my life that they probably did exactly that. If they wanted the tape and the casino wouldn't give it to them, then that should have been an even bigger red flag.

 

Anyway, it seems most likely to me that King gets good info that the league has reviewed the tapes and reports such. It's not like King is the only one saying this, and I'm guessing that people have saved articles released by the NFL that will be coincidentally inconsistent at best or downright contradictory at worst.

 

Now the NFL is in a huge PR mess since the business is now closed and the tapes inevitably leaked (most likely being leaked by someone who was losing their job in a city and industry that doesn't have a good outlook for anyone looking for casino work anytime soon).

 

NFL goes into damage control mode and says they never saw the tapes to save their own hide. I'm sure plenty of people aren't buying their line about not seeing them anyway, but that's beside the point.

 

After all of the NFL's mishandling of this so far, you think they handled that part correctly? Either they were some of the most aloof executives in the history of sports or they're just lying to deflect the tons of backlash and negative press they're about to receive any way they know how.

 

Again, King put in print because he actually had it on good authority that they did. Now King starts getting called out and can't out his source and has to fall on the sword when he's the one being called a liar by the NFL.

 

Exposing the source could have huge repercussions for King and might potentially lead to some severe backlash for both he and the source. We're talking about a guy basically being ostracized from his profession, employer, and community if the NFL feels vindictive, and that's a best case scenario for him. I can understand why a reporter wouldn't want to publicly expose some shady dealings at an Atlantic City Casino and within an organization as powerful as the NFL.

 

Call me a conspiracy theorist and give me a tin foil hat for this one if you want, but really, doesn't it seem most logical to think that things would have played out like that?
