Newport Central Catholic/Holmes scrimmage

One of the smallest Breds teams in quiet some time. I left this one with 1:53 remaining an the Breds up 12-0 courtesy of a Ryan Hans 22 yd FG, a safety, & a Kole Carmack TD run.

Nate Enslen was the favorite target of all three QB's tonight. Jake Smith with some good, powerful runs. The Breds had 2 1st and goal's from the 10, but couldn't punch it in. Jr. John Harris with a couple long runs, and 2 very nice 3rd & 6 conversions from So. Kurtis Sutkamp.

All three QB's, Schilling, Anderson, & Henschen rotated under center. All three had their moments, nothing to indicate who gets the starting nod though. However, with the season ending injury to Sr. Grant Schilling, the Breds just lost a starting LB and possible starting QB. Feel sorry for this young man, tough break (no pun intended).

Pleasant surprise with the Breds kicking game. Erik Anderson on punts and soccer player, Ryan Hans, kicking field goals.

Holmes did a nice job moving the ball on the Breds defense at times, but their 2 drives of significance both ended on fumbles. Holmes has some nice speed, but was really impressed with Andrew Arnold, kid was all over the field making plays.

Coach Nevels doing a fine job with the Holmes program. :thumb:

Unfortunately, Sr. Grant Schilling (QB/DB), broke his tibia in the 3rd quarter tonight while making a tackle, out for the year. He started the game at QB tonight.

Man that's horrible, I hate to hear any kid get hurt but to miss his senior season really stinks. Godspeed on his recovery.
